I'm thinking of coming up

...with some kind of quickie 5-10 minute presentation on something that (I hope) will be interesting. Maybe if we keep the format like that most of the time it will make the idea of individual presentations more appealing/less daunting to give.

Also, there was talk about a location change to Davis, but I'm not sure that we have a standing offer for the place to use - and additionally I'm concerned about having the location for the 'Sacramento' group to be so un-central (even though I realize at the last meeting that a good number of people were from Davis).

Data projector

I can bring a data projector to these meetings if needed. I'm not remembering a wall there that we could project on though...

Although I come from Davis/Woodland, a Sacramento location may be better for the group. When the group becomes larger, and/or presentations become a bigger part of the meetings - RCB may not be the ideal place. If we could find one with a hotspot, a pizza place may be an option. Most have a room that can be reserved at no cost (just an order of couple of pizzas). Tables can be moved around and there would be wall space to project on. Justa thought.

I enjoyed the last meeting, count me in for April!

Hi Paul,

The pizza place idea - I like it! The projector would be cool, but as you eluded to I'm not sure River City is set up for it. If anyone knows a Pizza place downtown that would fit the bill let us know. It might be asking to much to have wifi, but even if we could just get a quieter place and somewhere to spread out that would be an improvement. For my part I'll see what I can track down over the coming weeks - for now let's just keep River City as the plan, but we can of course switch it easily when/if we get something else that's firm.

Some suggestions

With SacStarts (http://sacstarts.com/) we put on monthly entrepreneur dinners, so we've found several good locations.

Cafe Bernardo R15 at R and 15th has a room upstairs that can be reserved. I believe they have a minimum purchase that means you need about 12 people eating dinner there to make it worthwhile. Lots of space, flat panel TVs, and quiet. They used to advertise wifi at one point, but I've never used it.

Panera Bread on Howe Ave has several areas that are conducive to a group meeting. Everyone orders for themselves, meaning you don't have divvy up a bill afterwards. They have wifi.

Hoppy Brewing Company on 65th and Folsom has wifi and a smallish meeting room for 8-12 people.

Boudin SF at Fair Oaks and Monroe (in the old Java City location) has wifi and walk up ordering like Panera. There's a section apart from the rest of the restaurant that could work.

The Folsom location of Jacks Urban Eats is slow on weeknights, making it a useful place to meet.

If you want to skip food and just have a meeting place, perhaps the EDH incubator? Many Raleys stores in the area have community rooms for the asking. See http://www.raleys.com/cfapps/eventcenter/requestnew.cfm

Great info

Thanks for the suggestions, akalsey. We're probably a little small yet for cafe bernardo, and Jacks Urban Eats/Folsom might be a burden for our Davis members, as is the El Dorado Hills incubator. Not sure about Raleys....but Panera Bread, Hoppy Brewing, and/or Boudin all sound equally as interesting.

Opinions? (anyone, everyone)

Since time is short...

...and since I haven't taken the time to check out any locations, and no one else has voiced any opinions in regard to my earlier posting -- maybe the easiest path this month is to just meet at River City Brewing at 6:30 and then we can talk about future/different locations when everyone is present.

Still meeting?

I RSVP'ed, but Caleb G and I are the only attendees listed. Is this event still on, and is anyone else coming?

Indeed we're still on

It's often the case that people don't rsvp (the majority don't in fact, if the past events are any indications). I think it's because the rvsp button is not very prominently displayed.

See everyone there!

Sounds good

I'll be there, though I have a guitar lesson in Davis that ends at 6:30, so I'll be a little late.

Oh goodness...

I guess that's what I get for scrolling too quickly ... didn't even see the RSVP button until I came back to look for it - now I'm signed up correctly, I think :)

Hey guys...

Hey everyone:

I can't make this one unfortunately. But I will definitely be at the next.

For future venue, we're moving to a super-huge new office, and I'd like to offer it up as a meeting space for our bits. It should be super cool, and we'll have our existing projector, audio stuff, etc, etc... all available and built into the office in downtown Sac.

Sorry, couldn't volunteer it 'cause we hadn't decided to move.

Jonathan

PS. We should put together a series around SacDUG. What kind of stuff are you guys interested in seeing ongoing? Maybe we do 10 minute mini-presents on stuff so we can share and talk about the work we're doing? I'd love to see this DUG grow.
