Sac D.U.G. Meetup - June 19th, 2008
River City Brewing, Co 6:30pm.
Be there or be square!
Sac D.U.G. Meetup - May 15th, 2008
Sorry for the late post - we'll be meeting again on the the third Thursday of the month - which this month falls on the 15th.
Unfortunately, I've had zero time to check out new venues so the River City Brewing, Co will have to do I guess. (at least we can console ourselves with their great beer ;)
Same time again: 6:30pm....later for some of us.
This time around I'm planning to have:
1) a open question and answers session (whereby we all get to ask AND answer questions)
2) arrange the seats/tables so that we all have a better 'round table' effect than we have had previously
(if anyone else would like to present something - please leave a comment)
See you there!
Sacramento DUG meetup, April 17th
The next Sacramento Drupal User's Group meeting will be at the River City Brewing, Co at 6:30pm on April 17th. Please feel free offer suggestions for the meeting, volunteer to give a presentation, etc, in the comments.

Group Talk
(Note: for anyone who isn't already aware, the Sacramento Area Drupal User Group will be meeting at the River City City Brewing Co in Downtown at 6:30pm on Thursday, March 20th - no reservations required - just show up if want to come :-)
I found a great link tonight using a hunch, a few keywords, and Google. It's a thread started by Dries Buytaert himself no less (the Drupal project founder, of course), regarding Drupal User Groups and what been working for them and what hasn't. There are some really detailed comments from members of other Drupal User Groups.
So here's a thread that we can share and discuss our own thoughts about all of this as they pertain to the Sacramento Area Drupal User Group.

Time to crank up some Sacramento Drupal action again!
I'm considering getting the Sacramento Area Drupal user group going again (it has been defunct for 6-8 months now), with the intention of making it the kind of user group that is fun to be a part of and that the region and the larger-Drupal-community can be really proud of ™. In that spirit, I think we should switch up a couple things that were already being bantered about concerning improving the user group before things drifted along:
1) Venue - The restaurants the group met at previously were nice enough and conducive for socializing, however after several meetings it was becoming obvious to everyone that restaurants did not necessarily provide the best facilities/atmosphere for giving presentations or unencumbered discussions. Optimally, what we need is a small-to-moderate amount of space (enough for 10-15 people initially), internet access, and a downtown-ish location seems to have been the best in terms of convenience for the most people (given that people came from as far away as Davis on one extreme, and then Roseville from another).
2) Group objective(s) - It will be useful to be more organized concerning the monthly meetings. This time around let's try to plan a presentation(s) and/or agenda ahead of time so that the meeting can be more productive and fun. Swapping casual conversation and socializing will always be part of things, but a little direction to keep things moving is good too. My personal objectives include things such as, a) figuring out how to participate in promoting Drupal in the local area, b) possibly coming up with a group-wide effort to contribute to some aspect of the Drupal project, c) offering presentations about various aspects of Drupal and/or Drupal development.
Last but not least we'll need a time. I propose keeping the previously set time of the third Thursday of every month at 6:30pm, in order to give people travel time from work, but am open to other ideas if they work better for the majority of people involved.
Sound good?
Senior Internet Engineer / Developer with leading Media Co! | The Seattle Times Company

Responsibilities:

Establish common gateway interfaces and/or application programming interfaces between Internet client software, Times data and other source information.
A little slow around here. Are there still monthly meetings?
Funny. I've been on here for over a year and didn't see this group before. Anyway, I'm in Rancho Cordova now, grew up in Elk Grove and graduated from UCD. I am attempting a career change away from electrical engineering to web development/programming and have been using Drupal for 15-16 months. I like it a lot, though in the future I'd like to contribute to some core changes. In particular, I'd like to see changes that would either eliminate or reduce the size of the modules I have developed without losing functionality. All of my modules, as a design goal, have not required patches to core.

Sac D.U.G. Meetup
Where: River City Brewing Company
Sacramento / Davis Drupal Users Group Meetup
Ok, it's time for another SacDUG. This is shortly after the MySQL conference, which I hope to have some attendees (I'm still looking for 1-2 volunteers for it on the 22nd) come for the day.
I don't have a particular event planned, but I have some ideas that Sepeck and I have been talking about. I think it's time we start steering the dug towards some kind of ongoing contribution towards Drupal.
Anyways, meeting is planned. I'll be there. Please RSVP, and I'll pick a place and post for us to meetup!
I Just had an SEO Geek's Fantasy Day...
The great Yahoo DrupalCon, formerly know as OSCMS, was my first visit to the Mecca of Search (Sunnyvale/Mountain View) and the experience was just made complete a few days ago. A friend of mine asked me to accompany him to a meeting at the Microsoft offices in Mountain View. He was presenting one of his inventions to some Microsoft bigwigs and wanted me to come along as a technical consult. It sounded interesting...
OSCMS hangover be darned! Let's have a meeting
Ok, well it was hard to project that it would take 2+ weeks to recover from all the fun had at OSCMS and/or the montezuma's revenge that Jonathan inflicted on everyone there ;), but it's time to have another Sacto DUG meeting!
Proposed date/time:
4/18 (Wednesday), 7:00p.m.
WE STILL NEED TO SETTLE ON A LOCATION
Dojo Lesson on TinyMCE This Sunday at 11AM PST!
I'm "hosting" the weekly Dojo screencast this week. I will be demo'ing the TinyMCE WYSIWYG toolbar. I will be covering the installation process, the new features available in Drupal 5, and answering as many questions as time allows. I will talk a little bit about the dark days of TinyMCE and how I ended up as the maintainer, but I want to spend more time discussing what direction users what TinyMCE to go. What are the biggest problems that still need to be solved.
Date/time for next meetup
In light of, and to accomodate, the upcoming OSCMS Conference I propose April 4th (Wednesday) @ 7:00pm for our next meetup.
Also, Chilis was very accomodating but clearly we were pushing the limits of what is practical to do there, so if you have ideas for and/or want to volunteer a location please leave a comment.
Sacramento meetup
Feb 22, 2007 from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M PST. Meetup at Chili's Grill and Bar located at the corner of Howe and Arden.
Just a formal introduction.
I'm located in Roseville and manage the newspaper group Gold Country Media's online efforts. I'm interested in hearing from other's in the area who are working with Drupal. I am by no means an expert but I do have the luxury of spending some of my day-job working with Drupal.
