Hi Guys
I am Binod Chandran from India. I would like to participate in Gsoc 2008 through Drupal.
I have been using and playing with Drupal for around 2yrs.I had contributed to Drupal through Ghop held 3 months back.
I have experience working with languages like C,C++.Currently learning PHP.knows Basic MySql.
My project proposal for GSoC 2008 is Games module for Drupal integrating the pnFlashgames [http://www.pnflashgames.com]Game Component into Drupal.
The Project initial Idea is to add the games into Drupal and the high score system works .The games plug-in requires the games to be downloaded to the web server [after download from pnflashgames.com] and the admin should create a games node containing the game info like Name, Description, flash file location, size, scoring system, categories.
The user will see his high score and ranking for each game. Also comment on each of the game.
The Admin will have the rights to clear and update the scores, comments manually. Scores can be pruned after a period of time
More Features which could be added in due course
Game Ratings-Members can rate each Game
Mods-Moderator can take care of scores, tournaments, comments
Tournaments-Create Tournaments Limited or No restriction participants
Users can create Tournaments with open slots other players can join in
Creation of Tournaments is based on groups(organic group) and User-Permissions
Each Game can be set to be selectable for Tournaments or not
Group-Permissions-Permissions for each group[Organic Group]:
Access to the Arcade (can not view, can view but not play, can view and play)
total posts requirement
posts per day requirement
max. plays per day
which categories can be played
User-Permissions
you can set individual permissions per user:
can create Tournaments
is banned from the Arcade
is Arcade Moderator
Automatic Game Installation

I Like It
I like the idea. It has been sorta attempted before, see this, but never developed into a complete, public module. It would be great to see a module like this created.
Crossposting to Games and Games API groups
Hope we can generate some more feedback for this proposal. I do like the idea if hooking the games up with the local Drupal users in terms of tournaments and such, seems like you could generate a cool community. But I don't know a lot about how this integration works so I can't really comment on the scope or appropriateness from a Summer of Code perspective.

No, there is not a working
No, there is not a working Games module for Drupal.
You could try rolling your own custom Games section on your Drupal site, and upload some Flash-powered games for it. It isn't very hard.
