i'm using 5.x version and i think it has a lot of potential for Filipino websites, being able to reach out to a wider non-English speaking audience, and of course for Filipinos as well.

With a little css knowledge, you can configure how the little flags are shown.

how about the translation part?

mrgoltra's picture

I am having problems with translation. I have read the documentation and even started a test site. Do you have a sample site?

Thank you,

Mark

have you enabled the locale

DL's picture

have you enabled the locale module? if no, enable it. if yes then import locale languages (those are {language code}.po)

install and enable il8n module

in admin/settings/i18n, my settings are : browser language detection - enabled

advance settings - only current language and no language

after this, every node has an option to translate to the enabled languages, this creates nodes like en/node1 and fr/node2 and es/node3 and so on

here are my unsolicited comments :D

1) front page should have a clear description of site
2) color schemes should reflect the site's concept

my 2 cents

how about your solicited comments? hehehe.. m really surprised that I get visitors.. I am also surprised that I am on page one of Google search and also at one point, a buyer for the site.. hahahah.. natawa ako doon... someone wanted to buy it.... and a childhood friend has even used the site to contact me..

http://mymissedconnection.com/node/194. Kala ko nga at first may nang tri-trip ahahaha.... This is the first time I have setup a CMS site. Last time I put up a site was when HTML was the only web language and the 5 MB space that I got from the university.

yup ur right I need to re-org the front page and other things. I also want to develop a few modules..but as of now family muna and work. Believe it or not Drupal is my vent, hobby, stress reliever..... my yoga... hahaha.. pero lately I think its becoming an obsession.. last nite I was up till 5 am working on the location and gmap module.. (bloodshot droopy eyes).. with all this going on I am thinking of changing my job...

Here are a few things that I am planning on

  1. Wording - (hire a web writer)
  2. Theme - minor hacking.. gaya dito gaya doon, copya d2 copy doon, trial and error...
  3. Forms - Looking into consolidating all those forms into one.. workflow-selection..

So how do you and the rest of the guys here manage? Most member here are not hobbyist and I am not sure how many member here have their own personal/commercial site that they administer and maintain.. wow... Hats off sa inyo..

BTW.. wla bang listahan ng Pinoy Drupal sites or mga Show case from member here?

Thank you for your input and for taking the time.. :- )

P.S.

I still have the following to work on

www.sadmeal.com
www.friedelectronics.com
www.subaru-racers.com
www.redrocketranger.com

hahahahaah.. baliw na nga talaga ako... bwahahahahahh

DL's picture

I've browsed most of the site you've mentioned, and there seems to be something common about them, that the sites are not clear on what it aims to address or what market in the world wide web it plans to cater to. Don't take this the wrong way if I seem to rub this on you but one of the many rules to make any site successful is the ease of user interface, including easily grasping what the site is all about. If you are getting lots of reads and hits on your site as it is, what more if one of the fundamental rule is followed.

Keep 'em sites coming!

I value your opinion

mrgoltra's picture

thank you very much. I really value your opinion and I agree about the ease of user interface, 100%. No one would like to view a very complicated site. As far as the urls I have listed.. non-functioning site yang mga yan. One of the things I want to make EZ is the post form but like I said.. I am a newbie at this new era of the web. Thank you.
