Hi, i'm newbie to this group, though been around Drupal since 5.0.
I would just like to congratulate Marc.Robinsone for his awesome presentation of Drupal here in Cebu at the just concluded 1st Philippine Open Source Summit. He really did a great job that even a "manang" got so much interested. I for one had all my body cells fully awakened what with the sleep-inducing afternoon aided by the previous so-so sessions. Sayang I was not able to take a pic.

KUDOS!

Drupal Code Sprint in Manila

public
j.francisco - Sun, 2008-06-22 20:54

Anyone interested in a Drupal Code Sprint?

Next month I'll be in Manila to attend my cousin's wedding. While in town, I thought it would be fun to organize a Code Sprint. The purpose of this Sprint will be to build a web site for a local non-profit organization...and get to know the local Drupal community in the process.

Basically we would meet up to design, build and deploy a website from scratch. After several hours (and a pizza break in-between), we would have a finished, fully functional, Drupal-powered site.

Theme was heavily modified litejazz by roopletheme.com and we used CCK and Views a lot plus a splash of Lightbox.

Hi!
I am looking for great drupal developers, particularly those with experience of (or willingness to learn) implementing complex designs and e-commerce. Please see my job posting here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/12387 .

I am writing here because I want to create the best working environment possible. Basically, what I'm offering is remote work, mostly for international clients. However we're often in the Philippines (Pampanga) so some actual meetings are also likely. We usually communicate via IRC and e-mail.

If you were to work remotely, what would be your biggest obstacles?

Hi, I have a need for a clever individual to implement designs into Drupal, and/or possibly other cms's. You will have to know how to implement complex designs in Drupal, including (but absolutely not limited to):
- tabled design and table less design / css
- pictures that line up beside each other
- rounded corners
- variable width
There is a possibility of a steady flow of projects if the results are good.
You'll get the chance to work with exciting international projects, freedom to work when you want (as long as you stay within the deadline of course) and good compensation.

I've created a new module...am still waiting for Drupal.org to accept it...

Nodepoint is the same with userpoint module, but this module allows nodes to have points...

The pratical use of this is when a user gets a service on a certain node his userpoint will be deducted based on the nodepoints of the node...

let me know your toughts pinoys... Im working on new customized modules for BMF (Cebu-based)...
Next i will create its nodepoint services (XMLRPC or JSON servers). Any body got an idea on this?

I started to use Drupal about 14 weeks 3 days ago as depicted in my account in Drupal.org. I found our Pinoy group because of this post.

I join because I want to keep in touch with people of my blood. I am not an IT professional and I don't have any proper training in website development. I started to build static pages last October 2007 in free hosting as a hobby, but this hobby turns into passion. My stay at free hosting gave me some opportunities to learn the basic HTML and some CSS. Being my passion, I go with the paid hosting at Yahoo! in November 2007 then run my static pages with my very own domain. How proud am I with my own domain.

Drupal vs Joomla questions

saulius@dwebsite.com - Fri, 2008-05-30 11:56

Hi All,

in the company where I work we tried to use Joomla for our portals/websites, but we
quickly stuck with Joomla and mainly because it's a single website product and
anything multi-sites related cannot be implemented there easily. So, now we are
considering Drupal as a possible alternative.

I'm not familiar with Drupal so, I would really appreciate if could give me some
answer. Okay, these are my questions:

  1. When we have multiple websites single Drupal code based, how is this organized?
Is the code kept in single directories and other websites just have the symlinks

I don't know if this was caused by my upgrade from 4.6 to 4.7.

Hi guys, I submitted a proposal for GSOC and its now approved. We have 3 mentors and 1 student but were hoping Drupal developers from PH will also join!

Please support "Re-write Drupal in OOP"

Abstract:
Adopting Object-Oriented Programming for Drupal is basically one of the oldest issue that existed between module developers; It basically a battle between simplicity and efficiency vs code management. As much as I'm convinced to support simplicity; as a module developer, its quite annoying to encounter namespace collision because of Drupal's non-OOP feture.

Sydney Convention and Exhibition Center Darling Harbor
I am pleased to announce that the next large gathering of Drupalers will be held in Sydney, Australia from May 18th - 22nd 2008 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Center Darling Harbor in conjunction with the Open CeBIT expo and conference. We're inviting people from all over the region - and that means you!

The Drupal Asia Pacific Conference is a major event to gather Drupalers to learn, discuss and advance Drupal. It is also a great opportunity to network with other community members that operate in the Asia Pacific region and who may not be able to attend community events on the other side of the world.

The conference will feature dual tracks over 3 days and a single theatre over a day and half that will also be open to the broader Open CeBIT audience. We are partnering with the Joomla community to host a website building contest which will be prominently highlighted at the OpenCeBIT Conference. All attendees will be provided free entry to the CeBIT expo (20th - 22nd) and offered discounted tickets to the Open CeBIT conference. We will also be hosting a booth as part of the CeBIT Exhibition to educate and promote Drupal to businesses, government, and individual attendees of the exhibition.

The open source community is celebrating the release of Drupal's easiest version ever: Drupal 6 [http://drupal.org/drupal-6.0.] This version fixes many of the annoyances and limitations of Drupal.

Among the improvements are easier installation, with carefully guided steps. Drag and drop administration, including the much-awaited drag-drop taxonomy administration, openID and an improved workflow module (via custom triggers). Drupal themes are now easier to customize too.
