I am a drupal newbee and really overwhelmed at the moment. I'd like a thorough consultation with someone I can give the admin password to and show me how to accomplish my goals here. Which are …
I want many journalists to be able to contribute articles, including pictures. Once I ok the article, it gets published and they share in the revenue. I've got lots of features planned. But for the moment, I just want it to look like a newspaper more like my old page, rather than a drupal log in page. If there is anyone who could help me get this started, I'd sure appreciate it if you would PM me. The site is now uploaded at http://supermarketgreennews.com and I can get you an admin log in so you can see what modules I've got working.
This was supposed to be easy. I have the old site at http://jamescarvin.com/supermarketgreennews2.com/
Could someone help me brainstorm with this?

Well, despite all the
Well, despite all the improvements lately I guess Drupal is still somewhat aimed towards developers - so, nope, Drupal isn't a turnkey solution. But if you have the time, Drupal is worth some perseverance. Try reading up about CCK and Views. Set up images with either the Image (+ Image Attach) or the CCK imagefield module (check this insightful article about the difference). Find a theme you like from all those that are available on drupal.org, or read up on how to theme for Drupal so you can recreate your old theme - the basics are pretty easy. And then the fun begins ;-)
Re-configure the site
stdbrouw,
I do not agree with you. Even non-technical person can use Drupal to created good looking, feature rich sites.
James, your site has not been configured properly. I visited the link you provided, you should follow instructions from handbook and it would be straight forward. If you do not feel comfortable, I will put you in touch with Drupal service providers who can quickly do things for you.
Drupal Learning Resources
First, Drupal is not that easy for most non-technical users as the user experience testing has shown. Drupal is not easy to navigate and the naming convention is not easy to grasp--"node," for instance is not meaningful.
Secondly, a non-technical user would be able to create a basic site more easily with Wordpress or some of the other set up with a wizard-based systems available to users.
It would be best to tell non-technical users that Drupal is not easy but can provide great functionality. Then direct that person to the handbooks or some of the commercially available books that could help explain things.

That depends on how you define "technical". I wouldn't trust my mother with Drupal, heh. But, yeah, I didn't mean to imply that you have to be a developer to do anything decent with Drupal.
Drupal is not that easy
It is true that drupal is not that easy. It's learning curve is steep. Personally it took me a long time to understand how i can create a basic site that doesn't look like blog.
If you like a blog type site you can go with the default setup. But if someone decide to play with it for sometime she/he will find himself very far from beginners level.
Just devote yourself to it.
GREAT THINGS DOESN'T COME EASILY.
I did something like that...
Hi James!
I did something like what you asked for a few months ago. I just made a writeup that might be of some help.
Cheers!

Innovation News
We have just completed an installation profile which creates a web-based newspaper. Luckily for you, it was built especially for use in a team environment. I'm not sure if it is exactly what you're looking for, but you might want to test it out:

loop issue.
I just did a fresh install of drupal 6.4 and added the modules Global Redirect, Search 404, Pathauto and Token. After i did that I get this error after clicking any link on the frontpage
"Redirect Loop
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."
Anyone know why this happens? I cant get into the admin panel to disable the modules either.
hmmm
First, this seems a bit off topic. Please be sure you are posting in the most relevant place.
Second, there are two ways to disable modules when a site is broken:
