* NOTE:
* If you were at the past meet up (March 28/11), then you probably don't need/want to read this.
* This is basically just a re-cap of what was said.
*
* http://drupal-kitchen.com is up now.
* It has some structure to it and comments enabled, so we can discuss different aspects of it easier.
* So, if possible, please use the site to comment/ask questions.
*
* One last thing: April 11/11 (tentative, 7:30 @ Ocho, 193 Spadina ave) we will be meeting to talk about the details of the event and how it would work.
* I'm hoping to do a "dress rehearsal" for that night too, to really find where any bottle necks might be, FYI.

?>Hi Everyone,
So, during this past DUG-TO meet up I proposed the idea of Drupal-Kitchen to the group.
The basic idea of the proposal is this:
An alternate night for us to meet up where instead of giving/listening to presentations, we do a hands-on activity. What's the activity? We try our damnedest to build an entire web project in 3 hours. Sounds ambitious, I know. But, the goal is not to "complete the project". The goal is to see how far we can get, challenge ourselves, learn, have fun, and hangout doing something we all love to do - drupal.
I think most people are on board for some kind of "hands on" drupal night. But, I'd really like to push the idea that we work on real projects. There's more to be learned, and there's the potential to either donate our time to good causes, or work towards cash rewards.
So, below I quickly re-caped the presentation (you can check out the prezi here - http://prezi.com/yubmx80onxpn/drupal-kitchen/ ).
But, before I do:
- If you'd like to find out more on all the details, you can read and join the discussion at http://drupal-kitchen.com
- Coming up, April 11th we will be meeting to talk about the details of the event and how it would work.
Thanks,
-sebsebseb123
Drupal-Kitchen:
Who?
- Anyone interested in web development.
- All skills. (Not strictly drupal: HTML, JS, Photoshop, Project Management, PHP, others...)
- All skill levels.
What?
- Monthly "game", where we build real web projects.
- We can use existing modules and create any of our own.
When/Where?
- 2nd Sunday of every month.
- 6:30 - 9:30 PM
- @ CSI, 215 Spadina ave.
Why?
- Real web projects offer a better learning experience and greater satisfaction.
- Our "game" night can have a real impact on us and others.

Hey Sebastian! Yeah.... so...
Hey Sebastian! Yeah.... so... I completely slept through the DUGTO meeting last week, but just wanted to say that I'm definitely in on this! It's in the calendar now.
Quick Q: How's the sysadmin part working? Is the site hosting going to depend on what the "winner" has available, or can we bank on it being hosted on Rackspace or something like that? Or are we just working in our own development environments? Lemme know what you're thinking man

Glad you're on board for
Glad you're on board for this!
...so, the hosting for the "winning" web project will be graciously provided by it-patrol.com (drupal-centric hosting service - thanks it-patrol!)
It can live there for the short term if the "winner" doesn't have proper hosting prior to the event... but it should be moved, and can't live there.
About your sysadmin question... I'm unclear about the Q. Or, did I answer it...?
Not available this Monday
Hey Seb, unfortunately I can't attend this week, but will try to make it next time.

April 11, 6:30 @ CSI (215 Spadina, 4th floor - Fish Bowl)
Drupal Kitchen "Test Run"/"Discussion on Details" for April 11th now has a time, and an exact location:
April 11, 6:30 @ CSI (215 Spadina, 4th floor - Fish Bowl)
Most of you from DUG-TO know the drill at CSI... if the front doors are locked, you can get into the building via Dark Horse cafe. This meeting will happen on the fourth floor in the "Fish Bowl" meeting room.
During this meet up, we'll do a mock run through with a fake project. We won't actually be working on this project, so this meeting will not last 3 hours. Instead, we'll pretend to work on it, analyzing our workflow and modifying the game plan... like any team, we'll need to figure out the best/fastest/cleanest way for us to communicate and tackle tasks... 3 hours is not a lot of time, being prepared and having a solid plan is key...
Anyway, I hope you can all make it out this Monday.
Sound great, I'm in.

Beer + Pizza + Drupal = Spectaclar idea.
Great Meeting
I will come next time as well and try to contribute.
Drupal Kitchen
Sorry, I had intended to come, but I got mixed up about the venue.
Somehow I got the idea the event was at Ocho at 7:30. I showed up there, and they were pretty confused about what exactly is a Drupal Kitchen.
From reviewing old emails, I guess it actually happened at CSI at 6:30. From what everyone says, it seems it went well.
I'll try to get the right location next time ....
