I'm getting really tired of not having some social interaction with fellow Drupal themers/developers! Trying to explain how excited I am about finding a new, amazing module is wasted on my friends. I had a buddy that helped me get started with Drupal, but he moved away. I can't tell you how awesome it was to have a local friend to bounce ideas off and share new designs with. I was really excited to come to a local meetup, but now I can't find any info on an upcoming one.
Does anyone feel the same way? Let's do something about it! I'm willing to help organize and promote some more local meetups. If anyone wants to meet for some coffee or some beers, I'm all for it! I drink both...

jhughesgraphics@gmail.com *I've had a few emails from people interested in a meetup, but would really like for everyone to post in the thread. At this point, the goal is to see how many people would be interested in organizing one. It's important for others to see your interest in it as well. Thanks!

I am for more local meet and greet/discussions. I moved down from NW Washington so I am fairly new to the area.

I'm the one who moved away... I miss the Willamette Valley Drupal people! Did the monthly meetings peter out then?

My long lost pal! It looks like the last meeting was in January. Hopefully we can get something going again soon.
Also New...
I'm new to both Drupal and the area (Eugene) and would also enjoy some social interaction with local Drupal dev's.
Meeting
Hey all, I was the co-admin of the S. Oregon Drupal Group and I'm moving up to Eugene on the first of next month. I'm interested in Drupal, Aegir, Linux, Video Editing Software, etc. - would love to meet with y'all. Are there existing meetups scheduled, or are we trying to schedule one here?
Thanks!
Let's get one scheduled. I
Let's get one scheduled. I think that a simple meet and greet is in order. Let's start throwing out suggestions for a time and place. A good pizza joint would be cool.
Agreed
Scheduling sounds like a great idea. I don't know the area well enough to recommend somewhere, but how about mid next week? Not so far away that we forget about it, but not so soon that we're already all busy with something.
Location and Time...
How about meeting at Sam Bond's Garage (407 Blair Street, Eugene) on Tuesday 7/26 after work (6'ish? pm)? They have food (including pizza) and beer...
Yeah, that would work just
Yeah, that would work just fine for me. I haven't been to Sam Bond's in a long time. Can't go wrong if they have pizza AND beer!

Thanks to everyone who made
Thanks to everyone who made it last night. I had a great time and look forward to one next month. Same time and place for August (Sam Bond's 6pm 8/26) unless anyone has something else in mind.
Day of week
Keeping it on the calendar month makes it a Friday. How about we keep it a Tuesday? That would make it 8/23.
Good idea.

Hey
Hey Everyone, I finally made the move up to Eugene and would love to meet up - has there been a decision about the next meeting date/time/location? Seems like it, but just double checking.

Seems like we're on for 6pm Tues 8/23
@slavojzizek, seems like we're on for 6pm Tues 8/23, at Sam Bond's. Always open for location variety, I would think.
Still on?
Haven't seen any comments in two weeks, so I thought I'd post to confirm/ask if we're still on for this evening, at Sam Bond's?
Heyyy
I am looking to go - confirming my interest, and I invited someone too who might come.

I have to cover for someone
I have to cover for someone at work tonight. Sucks but I need the hours. I really enjoyed the meet up last month and I was looking forward to this one. Hope you guys have a good turnout. I'll be there next time for sure.
Looks like I joined Western Oregon group a day too late..
I just found this group today and would have loved to come out last night; I've been searching for Eugene Drupal devs over the past month (and driving to Portland to attend meetings.) Are we interested in having another meeting in two weeks? I wouldn't have to wait a month!
No worries
I would be interested in meeting up. I love Drupal and Open Source ways. I think its important that open source communities and groups use facilities that are accessible to all; in this respect I will be periodically holding meetings at locations that are family-friendly, alcohol free or limited. In this vein, I will be at J-TEA in S. Eugene this Friday (tomorrow) at noon, and you are all invited. The idea of holding a meeting can also be used to periodically support local businesses/restaurants that are doing a valuable service for the community. The following week I'd be open to something similar, potentially in the evening if that works better for some, but to be honest its easier to talk Drupal when the mind is fresh.
Some potential topics I'm working with (more like struggling with on a day to day basis):
* Aegir - Barracuda, Octopus Aegir specifically
* Caching mechanisms - memcached, redis, nginx speed booster
* Calendar on D7
* PHP Fundamentals - CSS Fundamentals
* Ubercart Marketplace and/or Drupal Commerce 'multiple store support' and all ideas related to 'multiple vendor/dropshipper support' on Drupal
Thanks for your interest and concern, hope to see at least one of you Friday! And of course, you're free to contact me and form a relationship so we could potentially do more random little meetups.
Re: No worries
Thanks for organizing! I'll see you tomorrow.
!ESSENTIAL UPDATE!
I just called J-TEA and he needs to leave his tea shop early by 12:30PM-1:00PM,
So, I'm rescheduling this to 11:00AM. If you still come at noon, you can hang out for a bit and we could migrate over to the Friendly St. Market across the street possibly. OK, see ya there.
