I keep seeing jobs posted all over the place. Even this group. Unless someone is hiring to work on g.d.o, I think that's off topic. People seem to cross post jobs anywhere that seems even remotely connected and some just seem random. Is there some group for posting jobs? If I clean a job posting out of a group, where do I put it? Are there any rules on this?

The job posting guidelines
The job posting guidelines are on the node/add/job page.
We deliberately do not segregate jobs to a single group. The notification options will soon be expanded greatly so you can choose what types issue a notification for you.
Suggestions about how to improve how we handle jobs are welcome. The reason why jobs are on GDO is that organizations frequently want to hire someone local to them and posting to a local group makes sense. Same for topic specific groups like Information Architects and Javascript. I'd like to introduce a feature where groups can choose what content types are allowed in them. Patches welcome.

I'm not up for patching OG. ;) Was just looking to clean up g.d.o. I guess it was my perception that was wrong. I didn't think jobs belonged in, say, the social networking group just because it was a job for someone to build a social network. Sounds like I'm wrong on this, though. So mark this post as "by design". :)

I read group posts to find
I read group posts to find out what's going on with the group and learn about drupal. I personally don't care to see job postings, but that's just me. I'd love to be able to filter out job postings from my view.

For now, I recommend scanning your Unread page and skipping over the Jobs.
