I m at DrupalCon london and we were talking right now about Country organisations .

Pan-African Association

jpoesen's picture

Hi Badesemowo

We've talked extensively about this at DrupalCon Denmark.

I've been in contact with a fair number of Drupal community members across Africa to discuss a pan-african association.
Dries is generally in favor and the idea has been suggested to the Drupal Association.

I would have loved to be in London but I couldn't make it. It's obvious you have a drive to push the Nigerian community forwards so please don't hesitate to share your ideas and to get in touch if you'd like to know more about our pan-african adventure.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

i Love the Pan-African Association idea

I love the Pan African Idea which i belive should be the next step

chytech's picture

It is a welcome idea. It'll help in the standardization of the kind of CMS
Sites produced here in NIgeria because I believe most nigerian themers and php coders have programmed modules which r unique in solving peculiar african web problems. The association will promotes individuals who have what it takes to use drupal in solving the numerous needs in Nigeria. I see the possibility of this associations.

I will love to know more about what you mean by this. Do you have workable ways we can promote community involvement and social coding in our environment? I remembered I got burn out after the last camp due lack of the right attitude and participation.

Ps: Abayomi i was speaking with Dries about him coming to the next Drupal Camp

If Dries will honour the invitation, well that will be a great thing.

Thanks for the heads up!

Awesome stuff

Appears we are beginning to wake up to the call. It would be great to have Dries come for the next DrupalCamp but at the moment preparation seems slow but the major parts of it could be worked out in no time.

Talking about legal entity, I believe we have talked about this and there's a body we were trying to bring alive for the open source community in Nigeria that would act as an umbrella but then commitment is the key thing here.

I was scheduled to be at the conference but my visa arrived late.

Nice idea

a legal entity is a very nice idea,

how many active drupal users / themers/ site-admins do we have in Nigeria and what would the framework for the legal entity look like? besides training, we would need to talk about publicity, training(already mentioned), tech-support, addressing needs specific to our immediate environment, etc.

Legal stuff sounds cool

Whatever this Legal Entity means...This sounds exciting and I'd love to be a part of it - and support anyway I can (though Im not based in Nigeria, shouldn't matter right?)
Quick question: Has there been DrupalCampNigeria at all? If there is, must be pretty low key cos I haven't heard. Please let's kickstart the Nigeria drupal community and make waves!!!

GREAT CONCERN

mysterioux's picture

As the year draws her curtains,

I was wondering what are the steps needed to create the Drupal Association Nigeria? How did other do it? What level of committment are needed? What valuation tools do we need to measure up if DAN (Drupal Association Nigeria) is possible?

Where do we go from here?

Contributions are highly needed as those of Us who are already in 2012 are pondering on such questions and seeking ways to make this a reality.

Your Voice is my greatest Concern.
