User group meeting

We had a great first meeting last night, and agreed to meet monthly on the second Wednesday of the month. It's not too early to get it on your calendar for October 12.

We had lots of good ideas about agenda items for future meetings. I would like to include some time for general exchange (what's your newest favorite module, for example) and for at least one presentation on a topic. Who wants to volunteer to take on the first presentation?

Thanks, karlkeefer, for your posting about your recommendation for a module or two. See last meeting's comments if you don't know what I am talking about.

And let's keep working on those plans for the first Sonoma County Drupal Camp ;-)

Next meeting topics

Our next meeting is coming up on Next Wednesday, October 12. I am willing to talk about my experience in setting up a D7 site using the media modules to set up a photo album, and jplayer to use html5 to play mp3 files, if that is of interest.
Are you interested in this topic?
Do you have any other topics that you would be willing to share?

I would definitely be interested in hearing about media modules.

Meeting tomorrow

Yes, we are meeting tomorrow, October 12, at 7 pm at the New Arts Project building, 738 Wilson St., Santa Rosa, CA.

We will have group time for introductions and what's-on-your-mind, then I have a presentation on how to do media (audio, youtube, and photos) easily on Drupal 7. Jopshua Simmons will talk about a basic Drupal->MailChimp integration for a client using triggers, allowing the client to publish their newsletter from Drupal.

Do you have something you would like to discuss with the group?

Good meeting last night

Thanks to all who came last night. Although we were small in numbers, I think we all got something out of the meeting. We had introductions and a little discussion, then I presented how to do media in D7, including photo and video galleries, and mp3/mp4 playing with HTML5 and Flash. If you want to see the essence of the presentation, check my blog at dornbush.net.

We discussed how best to communicate. We have this forum, the facebook page for SoCo Drupal Users Group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/257833114256716/ ), and the site socodrupal.com. It was suggested that we use the power of Drupal to publish to the others from the socodrupal.com site; who knows how to do that?

Some requests and suggestions for future topics are:
Review of 2011 BADcamp
Module development and the Drupal API
Multisite vs. muitiple single sites, and best practices
How to provide user-friendly inline images
Matt's maps project, and Views with Javascript

Others? Who will volunteer to present something at the November 9 meeting?

Northern California
