Giving Sponsors Value

DrupalCamps, code sprints, and even Drupalcons are hard to hold without sponsors. It's important that sponsors are given a good value for their money or they will not sponsor future events. There are many ways to provide value to sponsors. The goal of this page is to come up with a list of many of these ways.

There is also a lot of great information about organizing events and handling sponsorship money on the DrupalCamp Organizing Guide.

Not all of these ideas will work in every camp (some people don't have printed material, others don't have space to host a "desk" for each sponsor).

  • Give sponsors time to speak during opening/closing sessions
  • Give sponsors time to speak before/after
  • Put sponsor logos on any printed material
  • Give sponsors a table (at the entrance, in some part of the space)
  • Have a sponsor desk where they can place literature and swag (stickers!)
  • Give them a table at the job fair
  • Give them the names/e-mails of conference attendees only if the attendees opt in to have this information shared
  • Place logos before/after videos of sessions
  • Sponsor page with linked logos on conference site.
  • Rotating callouts on conference site, weighted towards higher sponsorship levels
  • Permission to add items to attendee welcome/gift packs (stickers, flyers, general sponsor themed swag)
  • Prominent mention during opening/closing sessions
  • Name session rooms after a company and the sessions held in that room become the "Company Name Track"
  • Put company logos on signs for rooms, signs denoting different areas of the space, welcome signs
  • Provide an "interview with CompanyName" on the camp blog which gets promoted to the camp front page
  • Provide a banner to place on the sponsor website
  • Provide additional opportunities at adjunct events (afterparties, sprints, industry specific meetups)
  • Use "branded irc back channels" (used at Drupalcon, #dcdc-trelon, for example)
  • Use branded wifi SSID so that people know which company paid for the wifi
  • Create a twitter account for the event and use that to announce ticket sales, parties, etc. Also tweet about sponsors.
  • your brilliant idea here..
