Well, for me it's lack of availability of time. I also had a potential job fall through that was going to need something in this area of functionality, so that's also kind of slowed my movement here. I do still have an interest in this area. Really, my interest is in using Drupal as an application framework for building cross-platform programs that people can use where ever in the world they are, and groupware is just one of the uses that fits right in really nicely.

Yes, I am interested in continuing forward with this, but I don't really have the time to do it all myself. If anyone has ideas and wants to jump in with helping out (I'm not asking for someone else to do all the work), that would be great.

I still think the addition of CCK and install profiles in core (and adding the Views contrib module) will really help things like creating a groupware implementation go a long way, but I suppose in order for it to be truly portable and usable to a wide range of people, it has to be it's own module or set of modules (like eCommerce or ERP).
