Start:
2009-12-01 18:00 - 20:00 America/Boise

When: The Boise Drupal User's group meets on the first Tuesday of the month.

Location: Fuddruckers in Meridian. 3421 N. Eagle Rd, Meridian, ID 83646

The December meeting is going to be a gathering for all of the Treasure Valley Drupal community and our friends and family. We won't have an organized presentation but instead will have our families and friends join us for a social event. From the youngest to eldest we'll have a good time getting to meet and share with each other. Rumors of Drupal books and Drupal schwag abound so you won't want to miss it.

Hi, I'm a Drupal developer and have been in and out of the Boise area for awhile now. Just wondering how these events typically play out? Are they more of a social gathering or is it a transfer of knowledge/jobs, etc?

Thanks!

Dan

Welcome!

Generally our meetups involve a presentation by somebody who has been working on a topic. Recent topics have included using Drupal's Batch API, Theming with Skinr and Fusion, using Drush, etc. Last year our December meeting was more of a social gathering with families which was a nice way to get to know the extended community in the valley so we're doing that again this year.

In January we'll pick up with more topic talks http://groups.drupal.org/node/17803#comment-96566 mentions a few of the topics including Aegir and website analytics that will be likely topics as we begin 2010. The actual topics chosen are driven very much by what people would like to hear about and what people offer to present on so if you have either of those your thoughts would be quite welcome.

Hi Dan, a belated welcome to the community!

The events are definitely a mix of social and knowledge trading. They're a lot of fun, and I always learn something new. The core group of folks have been meeting for a while, so it's a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. Most of the time we'll have a presentation followed by discussion, but December's going to be more of a social / family meetup. Occasionally there's job discussion as well, and if you're looking for a job or to hire, I'd definitely suggest posting to the group.

Hopefully we'll meet you before too long!

Cheers!
Chris
