When is the next Dublin Drupal meetup?

I was thinking of organising one for February some time. However, I'm not sure of the format it should take - mini-presentations and demos, or just a general meetup. Which format will determine the type of venue we're after.

My schedule just got ridiculous for February. When are you guys thinking of? I'd drag myself all the way to Dublin, if its' the right day. Not that you should organise it around me but... I could make it Weekend 31 Jan-1 Feb or Tuesday 3rd feb or Wed 18th Feb. Apparently, everyone thinks February is a really good month to put things on!

You don't think that that's a tad short notice? :)

Just to clarify, this isn't a large meetup, just a small one that I hope will turn into a regular monthly thing :)

It's more likely going to be towards the end of February. I was thinking maybe some day between 20th and 28th of Feb. I'll be back in lectures then :( so Tuesday and Thursday evenings are out for me.

What would you say to the 25th of Feb - maybe 2 presentations about 30 minutes in length

We could also discuss organising a larger event and a united front for Bar Camp - Dublin 2009

TOTALLY misread the dates - nevermind me! :D

Weds 25th Feb is good for me. However we should keep in mind that this is the same evening as the Irish PHP User Group meetup in the Longstone Pub (starts 8pm). It's always the last Wednesday of the month.

So either we choose a different evening or we have our meeting earlier at 6:30pm, maybe try to convince some of the phpug people to go, and then head to the Longstone to catch up with them later.

Hi, I'm new to drupal, and was wondering are you having a meetup on the 29th or did I miss it?
What happens at the meets?

Yes we're having a meetup on April 29th in the Longstone pub on Townsend Street, Dublin 2. It starts at 6:30pm. The meetups are still fairly informal, there's no real presentations or demos at the moment. However, the idea is once the group gets large enough that we'll do lightning talks (each person talks / demos something for 5-15mins). For now though, it's informal and your welcome to bring your questions, ideas, etc. If there's a particular area you would like to learn more about, then please email beforehand and I might be able to demo it on my laptop. Also if anyone has an idea for another venue, preferably free and with free internet access, then please let me know.

Also, for those of you interested, the PHP users group meeting is the same night at 8pm in the same location. They also just have an informal meetup.

I have a hectic week ahead, but i will try and get down to the wednesday meet on the 27th.

As a by the way...the champions league final is on the same night...so there's a possibility the pub might be rammed with manutd/barcelona and neutral footie fans watching the game, which might make it a bit noisy. I remember there were words exchanged between one of the staff and the drupal group when he put up the volume of the tv so 1 person in the upstairs lounge could watch a game.

One alternative and as a suggestion, the snug in mulligans, which is just around the corner on poolbeg street, is quite large which could accomodate the drupal group. Not sure what the coverage is like in there, but it might be more appropriate.

Should we possibly switch to the Thursday? Or is there a match on that night too? I can't make Weds this week, so I'm partially biased. The disadvantage to moving venue / date, is that those who want to go to the PHPUG meeting too will either want to be in 2 places at once, or will have 2 different meeting nights.

I don't think the words exchanged between the staff and the drupal group were in any way uncivil. We asked for the noise to be turned off and they complied, making both groups of people happy. So I don't think the champions league match is the end of the world.
