big day for internationalization in Paths

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Steven recently got frustrated enough with the Drupal core restriction on international letters in path module that he removed it..

So, now pathauto and urlify can use any character from the node title that the user submits.

I've created an issue for pathauto to see how to best handle this. Please provide your input on the ideas there.

The link is broken. THe issue for pathauto is: http://drupal.org/node/98964.

I am not sure how an URL like:
http://example.com/base-path/?q=blog/%E3%82%A2%E3%83%8B%E3%83%A1
is an improvement...

If you are a user of a language that only uses ASCII-96 then it's not a big deal.

For people who use other languages it's something to get excited about.

The problem of the URL looking "weird" is a short term problem until the browsers fix it - but at least the browser's cant argue "we won't implement that until the websites of the world start using the right letters".

Greg
