Hello to all in the Philippines Group, I would just like to introduce myself, My name is Richie and I just recently moved here to the Philippines from Vancouver, BC, Canada, and would like to find people who I can converse with and share ideas. I am still fairly new to the Drupal scene, I've worked on a few projects for my brother's company in Canada. I'd like to get involved and learn more with people here, and hopefully see get a few projects happening in the near future.
Unfortunately, I am a few hours away from Manila, I live on the east side of Laguna, close to Rizal, but one bus ride to Ortigas. I'd like to get involved more with meetups and such, and would like to start to see more action on the forums in regards to sharing ideas, and more conversation based topics and solves. I see much potential in the Philippines, and although I was born in Canada, I see this country as my new home. I'd love to hear more from all of you. Take care.

Seems like I'm the first to send a greeting but here it goes: Mabuhay and welcome to Pilipinas! I hope you are enjoying your stay in one of the PH's 7,100+ islands.
You're not alone tho, as most of the Drupal people here are scattered across the nation. Mall meetups, bar meetups, any sort of meetups are possible, so if you feel the need to do so just send a shout-out over here or via the Facebook group.

Happy to make your acquaintance Mr. Riches. So from one transplant to another (I'm from the U.S.) welcome.
I'm glad to say that the Drupal community here is pretty good. I was a little disappointed at first because in the early months I had specifically been looking for a Linux community but that turned out a bit weak. It wasn't until I stumbled on this Drupal group that I found some pretty good support.
I myself haven't met up with anyone yet (got close a couple of times) but that is largely due to having a couple of new children in the house under the age of two. I'm sure things will settle down in a few months and I can eventually get together with a few folks that aren't too far from Marikina (where I currently live).

I too would like to chime in and welcome boogyriches. Im stuck perpetually at drupal newbie status since I only dabble as a personal hobby during what little free time I have. I do find the group very helpful and unselfish in pushing me in the right direction when im stuck or in need of an outsider opinion.
I am from libis area which is not very far from antipolo if that is "east side of laguna" .... 8-)

Hi boogyriches, I am a resident of Cainta, Rizal which is located between your town and Ortigas. About the meetups, I was surprised when I attended once in 2010 because I met a lot of guys who came all the way from Cebu and Iloilo to join the discussions. I am sure Marky will organize again a similar meetup for all of us. I hope you could also give us a short talk for the group. Just like many others, I am stuck with a newbie status because of my diverse interests.
