Last month's meetup at Urban ReThink was pretty great. As long as everyone is cool with the arrangement sitting upstairs, we can keep the meetup at the same time. We also raised over $50 for the Urban Think! Foundation in donations, partly in thanks to Don VanDeMark!

Parking map of Urban ReThink - I don't recommend the garage (unless there is a massive event at Lake Eola)

Since we are planning on using Open Outreach for Coding for a Cause 2012, I am thinking we should do an intensive walk-through and reverse engineering of the Distro to prepare us for the hackathon we have coming up, before we go through the process of selecting the lucky organization(s). (if you're not sure when these decisions get made, consider joining our weekly DrupalCamp conference calls, or the Coding for a Cause committee, email me -- liberatr AT gmail dot com)

I recently got a question from Jill, a nonprofit board member asking me more about Drupal and OpenOutreach, so I invited her to the meetup. Even if she does not come, I think this is going to be important exposure for our group.

If someone has a GoToMeeting account (or similar service) I recommend we open up the event to whomever would like to listen in / help drive, especially those interested in taking a tech lead position on Coding for a Cause.

Gaelan also offered to help do some sort of lesson last month, but I am not going to volunteer him for this unless he does so himself. Now that I think about it, I wonder if we could not dedicate part of our "beginner" track to an explicit demo of Open Outreach, maybe as a split session - one from the developer / site builder perspective, and one from the content editor / end user perspective.

i.e. we really need to do this deep dive into Open Outreach so we can make DrupalCamp and Coding for a Cause a success.

Does anyone disagree?

P.S. That same night at Urban ReThink I am hosting the Florida Creatives 5 year Anniversary Party. If you want to stick around downtown until 7pm, join us for some Smokey Bones BBQ and beer, and take a whack at the Pinata!

P.P.S. Don't forget that 2012 Florida DrupalCamp registration is now open! You can submit sessions or have people sign up for Coding for a Cause today. Registration is a reduced price until the first week of 2012 then goes up by $5 to $25.

This is exactly what we have in mind in producing the distro. Please let me know if there's any clarification or help I can offer. We're aiming to get a new release posted "soon" - certainly before your coding event - to fix some bugs and add a couple of new features, e.g. a home page slideshow to highlight content.

Open Outreach

nedjo,

Check out our Coding 4 a Cause application - http://fldrupalcamp.org/2012-coding-for-a-cause-application the "Desired Functionality" list was easy to develop using Open Outreach as a base.

@nedjo:

Thanks a bunch. This is great that you are actively supporting this. We are going to put openoutreach through its paces this Saturday and report back. If there are any hiccups, look for some patches possibly.

Thanks again for your support.

I want to be there, w/o 'being' there

I want to learn more about open outreach, and a free service I've found is way better then go to meeting - Join.Me. The presenters basically run the app, then are given a URL. The URL can be given to the people you want to share screens with. I have not played with any audio settings or used audio features with this service, yet, but i believe there is a call-in option. I usually just use Skype for voice, and this as a solution to Skype's poor screen sharing feature. Check it out and get back to me.
