Hi all,
Just wanted to throw out several things. Maybe we can pick them up at Tuesday's meeting, or we can discuss here.
First, two modules I created for specific sites, but which I think might be useful to the community of some better programmers got their hands on them and abstracted them out for broader use-cases. Mark Frey and I met today, and we thought it might be interesting to have a code sprint (or something similar) to work on these and then give them back to the community.
1) A module called "Create Content Links", which changes Drupal 7's Admin Menu module to include a "Create" tab with sub-items for each node type a user has permission to create (see attached screenshot). The problem with D7 Admin Menu module is that it lacks the "Create Content" sub-item that D6 had. If you use Toolbar instead of Admin Menu, you have to click through several pages in order to create content. This fixes that problem, but does not have a Settings page to help users configure it. Maybe we could create this together.
2) An Assignments module, which I'll be presenting on Tuesday. This module allows one node type to act as an "assignment" (it assigns particular users by way of a user-reference field), and sends out email reminders to people who haven't completed the assigned task yet. However, this module is programmed very specifically and would need abstracting and a settings page-- and, possibly, something like Rules integration-- to be useful to the community. But I think it potentially fills a significant need.
There's also the separate issue of a www.drupalpgh.org website. I'd be interested in taking an element of leadership and possibly design of such a site. What interest do others have?
Nate
