Welcome
Sup everyone. I’m really excited to help xamount start this group up. Just got back from DrupalCon DC and met up with 2 Caribbean Drupal developers there. I learned a lot and would definitely like to see more Caribbean developers/themers at the CONs. I hope that we could organize some DrupalCamps and maybe even a DrupalCon someday (but I’ll try not to get ahead of myself).
I also wanted to congratulate xamount for making the Drupal home page a couple of weeks back with the Trinidad Guardian, that was some good stuff.
I look forward to everyone helping to make this group something special.

Thanks Shawn. I too want to
Thanks Shawn.
I too want to see some more participation by our fellow Caribbean Drupal developers. We know you are out there but we can't seem to find you! Once there is enough members, maybe we can start off by organising a Caribbean Drupal Camp one day. I didn't expect to meet anyone from the Caribbean at the Drupalcon in DC but to my pleasant surprise I met 3 persons!
Hey xamount and Shawn
Sounds great! I'm sure a lot can be accomplished with Drupal regionally. I look forward to seeing what we can all learn through useful collaboration. A Caribbean Drupal Camp sounds great, until then, I'm trying to see how many active Drupal devs I can find in Jamaica.
Yes, xamount. Big up! Good job on the Trinidad Guardian site.

Hey rudi,
Glad to know that Drupal use is prevalent in SVG. Do you have a user/developer group there? I am from Exterbox, a Drupal shop in Jamaica. We would love to partner with our fellow web designers in the Caribbean region. I guess you can call me a "druid", I have been seasoned and fried in Drupal :P I hope you will be able to share some of your opportunities across our CSME.

Hi Rohan
We already share opportunities. We do not have a Drupal group in svg, I am told that our web designers favor Dreamweaver and Flash....and some have taken excursions into webtemplates of some description.
This favors the client coming back for maintenance I guess. I am not clear on how the choice is made.
I have had my site for quite some time now and I am actively promoting PHP, drupal and Ning networks, Weebly, etc. A number of Gov. projects have gone drupal so I am hoping that we are seeing the light.
I also will have two sites upcoming to be done which suit Drupal. So i'd like to think that we can all collaborate in raising the bar on the quality of developers in our region.

Hey Rudi
Seems like you've been around here for a while, it's great to see another Drupal developer from SVG. Government sites are excellent candidates for Drupal and more and more countries are realizing that. Do you know of any Caribbean gov project that has "gone Drupal", and the developers? That would probably be the best place to start if you'll like to start building some sort of user group (I would really like to see this). There might be a real opportunity here for both Caribbean developers and businesses/government working with the Drupal framework.
