Next Thursday, January 12, Drupal 7 co-maintainer Angie Byron AKA Webchick will be in town to join us for a special Boston Initiative issue sprint!
If you're interested in learning more about Drupal and getting involved with contributing, this is an event not to miss. We'll follow the same format as we did at the January 3 meetup, pairing up to work on Drupal issues in 2-person teams, and/or working through exercises to climb the steps in the Drupal Ladder, http://bit.ly/drupal-ladder. But this time, we'll have a lot more time to dig into the issues, and Angie will be joining us to participate!
To make the most of our time on Thursday evening a few easy things you can do before you come:
- Get Drupal 8 installed and running on your laptop
- Start a team or join a team to work on one of the Drupal core issues listed here: http://bit.ly/drupal-issue-teams
- Find and suggest Drupal core issues for people to work on by adding them to the spreadsheet here: http://bit.ly/drupal-issue-teams
DATE: Thursday, January 12, 2012
TIME: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m (we'll order in pizza)
ROOM: E51-315 -> Note Room
AGENDA:
6:00 - 6:30 - Prep local environment and populate spreadsheets
6:30 - 7:00 - Take dinner headcount; informal Drupal 8 update by Webchick
7:00 - 9:00 - Pair up, dive in, and eat dinner
Please feel free to bring some non-alcoholic drinks during the sprint to share. After, if people want to head to the Muddy for some post-issue drinks, we'll walk over to the campus pub.
Parking is available after 5pm in the parking lot on Hayward Street: http://whereis.mit.edu/?go=P5

Other sprints in the future?
Sadly unable to make it tonight, but wondering if people would be up for other sprints like this one outside the normal hours of the meetup? Maybe you guys can see how things go tonight and decide from there if the feedback is positive. I'd be totally happy to join the next sprint (either as participant or mentor), it's just that tonight does not work for me :(
have fun and say hi to Angie for me!
Big thanks to Angie,
Big thanks to Angie, webchick, for doing an awesome talk about where we're headed with Drupal 8 and participating in our issue sprint last night!
@scor, I'd definitely be up for another Boston Initiative issue sprint if other's are up for it. With our Drupalcon Denver session quickly approaching, the more we can fit in before Drupalcon, the better!
