Start:
2012-03-24 07:00 - 2012-03-25 07:00 America/Chicago
Organizers:

In the first four years of The Nerdery Overnight Website Challenge, volunteers have freely given about two million dollars worth of professional web development services to 66 nonprofit organizations – including 10 nonprofits at last summer’s first-ever Overnight Website Challenge in Chicago. While The Nerdery considers this a good start, we will rally our staff and community to deliver nerdy deeds done dirt-cheap for as long as there are good nonprofits with not-so-good websites. During this nerdathon benefiting local nonprofits, volunteers form teams of 8-10 web pros that show up not knowing what nonprofit they’ll serve, pro bono, for the next 24 hours.

WEB PROS

Put the band back together? Looking for a team of volunteers to join? Recruiting web talent as a team captain? An undisclosed number of team of volunteer web pros will be selected. <a href="http://tc2012.overnightwebsitechallenge.com/teams>Check out the team pages.

NONPROFITS

Nonprofits will be selected based on the case they make for themselves – and their web needs – as stated in their online application. Selection judges will also consider testimonials posted nonprofits’ behalf.

YESTERYEAR HIGHLIGHTS

  • A visit by Senator Al Franken: The Junior senator from the great state of Minnesota came in to check on the competition and give encouraging words to the teams. He even found time to meet with Boba Fett and hang out with some of the dogs.
  • Nerderizer 5000 Photo Booth: Dozens of photos captured during the pandemonium.
  • Break Room: Late at night the nerds relieved some tech-stress by beating up on hapless computers.
  • Monkey Business: A wild blue ape appeared halfway through the challenge and began to stalk his eternal foe, the giant yellow banana with a goatee.
  • Tron Guy: Otherwise known as Jay Maynard from Faribault, MN made the trip up to the challenge and found himself mobbed by adoring fans.

I do free work for non-profits about anytime

I am willing to help non-profits for free. but I do not do well with long or late hours.
I built http://daily-work.org/ for them.
If a non-profit wants a site like that (e.g. with a home page with dynamic functionality) of
any sit involving php and/or javaScript, a non-profit
may contact me, Brad, directly at lorlarz@gmail.com -- even though the marathon event has ended.
