Organizing Advanced Drupal Camp

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I just started using Drupal couple of months back and now I am really happy that I made the right choice by selecting Drupal over other CMS products.

I managed to pick up basic architecture of Drupal on my own by going through the documentation/screencasts/etc.

But still I find documentation on advanced topics missing and they are spread over in bits and pieces everywhere. Very hard to bring all that information together.

So I am planning to organize Advanced Drupal Classes / Meetup (Topic based)

I have listed down couple of use cases that will help us to understand one of key modules of Drupal - Flag module
Having too many topics in one session makes it hard to digest in one 2-3 hr session.

Following are the Use Cases that I would like Drupal experts on Flag module to come and share with the group at this meetup.

  1. Defining Custom Flag
  2. Allowing users to flag any content
  3. Display list of Flagged Items in Block or View or DraggableView
  4. Have View display a button at the end of the list to share / email this list to any site user / owner
(many ways to share this list- discuss multiple options to share this list)
  5. Change the View settings (make the node page that displays the flagged items - read only ) once it is shared with other user for review(just as an example)

I am hoping this session to be not more than 3 hrs.

So I am looking for

volunteers who are experts in this topic and who can come and share the knowledge - pointers on how to get someone to go over the above topics
anyone who is interested in training the grp on the above topics and if there are any charges associated with that please feel free to contact me directly - so that we willl know how to share the total expense

The above scenarios will cover the following topics - Flag module, its integration with Views / DraggableViews, custom Module Development.

You are welcome to present a short talk at the upcoming meetup next week to discuss the specific challenge you face and the progress you have made in solving it. Likely you would get useful feedback and meet people actively using these modules already.

If you are looking for paid training, there are listings such as:

http://training.acquia.com/

http://denver2012.drupal.org/training

And companies such a Lullabot, Chapter 3, Zivtech, and others can probably offer a customized course.
