Drupal is a fantastic web development framework that allows you to build pretty much any kind of website you can think of. It has a highly flexible theming system and a simple and very well supported modular extension system. However, there are some things that Drupal isn't really that good at. Two things in particular are large Document Repositories and dealing with Hierarchical Data Stores. Enter Alfresco. Alfresco is the most popular open source Document Repository and overall ECM on the market today. Alfresco's strengths are Drupal's weaknesses and for most part ditto the other way. This presentation with cover some of the ways that you can combine these two fantastic technology platforms to build a full backend/frontend solution that can scale to the size of any organization. Some topics covered will include: Content Management Interoperability Service (CMIS), Custom REST solutions, Single Sign On, and others.
Jim is a seasoned technologist with 15 years of senior level experience in the software industry. He previously served as Chief Architect at Yesmail (leading Email Marketing company), where he was responsible for all software architecture and development; during which time both Forrester and Jupiter Research ranked the technology second in the industry for two years running. After that he served as General Manager at M4 Internet (parent: j2Global – NASDAQ:JCOM), a full service Email Marketing company specializing in third party advertising.
Jim has worked with some of the most highly recognizable names on the Fortune 500 to help them design, build and manage their online marketing and customer relationship programs; including Time/Warner, NBC Universal, Hewlett Packard, Visa and American Express to name a few. He has spoken at numerous International conferences on matters related to Online Marketing and Data Analysis. Jim has a BA in Communication and Philosophy from Simon Fraser University, Vancouver Canada.

Attendees are invited to share their experience by giving a 2 to 4 minute presentation on any topic of interest to the Drupal community. If you want to use a laptop to show a website or control panel please be sure you have the necessary cable (vga) to connect to an overhead projector.
