Help test the groups.drupal.org upgrade to D6

moshe weitzman's picture

Finally, I have publically posted a version of this site running on Drupal6. Some basics:

  • Site: http://groupsbeta.drupal.org
  • HTTP Auth: user=drupal, pass=drupal (protects site from search crawlers)
  • Drupal login: Use your regular groups.drupal.org credentials.
  • Bug reports - Please search for dupes and if none, create an issue.
  • Feature requests - please don't file any now. We are focused on the upgrade.

Some notes:

  1. Email has been disabled.
  2. We are using a copy of groups.drupal.org DB. Feel free to mangle the content. I do testing in the Sandbox group out of habit.
  3. All private content has been unpublished. We are not offerring private content on D6. We will soon post on front page about this and email all authors of private posts. You will have a chance to download your content or make it public. More info soon.
  4. The job listing page will come back soon. I do hope this feature moves off of groups.drupal.org during the redesign.
  5. We are using Solr powered search, and can facet by group, among other things. Thanks and respect to the apachesolr devs.
  6. Panels powered group pages are gone for now. We need to finish this patch. Help wanted.

Great. I'll check some of the language capabilities. Can I upload new language files to this beta installation or should I wait after a migration process?

Yes, lets definately upload new lang files to this install if it is easy. We'll have to repeat the work when we go live. Please use this ticket to communicate what you are doing. joshk has also worked on this at my request.

Awesome!

My GDO login creds won't let me in.

Mine too.

My GDO login credentials also don't work. Though someone would like to know.. ^^"

-------- Edit

Hmm. Would it have something to do with the fact that my login is from Drupal.org? (JamesAn@drupal.org)

case sensitive?

Still not working.. =\ Hmm.

I hope this isn't just me being dumb and not getting something.. ^^" I tried to request a new password, but the email hasn't arrived. Maybe it's just really slow.

I noticed the Username description at http://groupsbeta.drupal.org/user is just "Enter your groups.drupal.org username." while http://groups.drupal.org/user has "Enter your groups.drupal.org username, or an ID from one of our affiliates: Drupal."

My uid on GDO is 32395. As an anonymous user, I can't view user pages on GDO beta, but maybe someone can confirm if my account is even there? Thanks.

Email Disabled

James,
Moshe had mentioned that Email functionality was disabled. I checked to see if he had posted anything recently that would contradict that. I did not find anything. You will not be receiving the password-reset email.

Once greggles set me straight, I was able to log in with DougVann after dougvann failed. Apparently you have tried all of this and are still having issues.

Just for kicks [and in the hopes of getting you logged in] please list the variations of your name that you have tried to use.

There's GOT 2B a way to get you in there.

Oops.. I missed that part

Oops.. I missed that part about emails being disabled.

When I go to the beta site, I'm getting a syntax error in the user module:
unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /var/www/groupsbeta.drupal.org/htdocs/modules/user/user.module on line 576.

I haven't tried any case-variations of my username. It's exactly: JamesAn@drupal.org and it's been like that before March. Like deviantintegral said, maybe site_network is not actually up. I don't know..

Hope I can login soon! ^_^

I also can't log in on the

I also can't log in on the beta site; my username is all lower case. Looking at /user, it seems as if site_network is disabled again.

Will the diff module be available for wiki-like posts in the new site?

D6 upgrade imminent

moshe weitzman's picture
moshe weitzman - Thu, 2009-09-03 13:49

Wifi permitting, I plan to upgrade groups.drupal.org to D6 on the code sprint day right at end of Paris Drupalcon. We will temporarily lose the OG panels feature. We hope to re-enable that when OG Panels module is ready.

Any OG Panels issue in particular?

markus_petrux's picture
markus_petrux - Thu, 2009-09-03 14:44

We'll be using OG and OG Panels soon, so I think I can help fixing OG Panels. Any bug in particular that needs attention?

BTW, there seems to be code committed to HEAD, but the dev snapshot is based on DRUPAL-6--2 branch. Is is hard to tell what needs to be tested.

Critical issue I've seen so far:

Anything else?
