Hi. There's a movement to change the Manager role for our group from me (@fending) to Nicholas Garafalo (@Eidolon Night) There has been the requisite discussion period and solicitation for feedback posted in our group.

I requested remaining in an admin role to help out, but Manager duties should fall to Nick as noted here and in the discussion: http://groups.drupal.org/node/285678

Merge both Bakersfield groups?

Congrats on the new group! I suggest merging this new group with the existing Antelope Valley / Bakersfield group. That group is fairly inactive but already has a couple members in it:

Expanding policy on removing group organizers

Currently, the only policy we have for removing group organizers on groups.drupal.org (GDO) is for abandoned groups. As the community and site grows, it's becoming clearer that GDO also needs a wider policy for removing group organizers. In some cases, we have orgaizers who haven't abandoned groups, but are otherwise harming the purpose of the site, facilitating collaboration within the Drupal community. In other cases, we have organizers of groups with no activity for over a year, clearly inactive, but we're still waiting 2 weeks.

Vietnam Group

Hello,

I am who did create and manage Vietnam group for long time, create tutorial, connect new Vietnamese ppl to Drupal community, my group has about 500 members for now. You can check it at http://groups.drupal.org/drupal-vietnam

We also have some other group admins. Now, I don't know why all of our admin membership removed, without any notification, discussion, admin membership is granted to Tom Tran.

It's not big number, but it's our time, me and my friends. Tom Tran, who's he, why he can be admin, how can all of my staff kicked without reason?

Please explain.

While g.d.o is headed towards a Drupal 7 launch on commons there is still some room for improvement of the Drupal 6 version of the site. As of November 7th, a new feature exists for fighting spam.

All "Editors" and "Spam fighters" on the site can now flag nodes and comments as spam. All Editors will see a block in the sidebar that shows any nodes or comments that has been flagged. They are encouraged to confirm the content is spam and then block the spammers.

Group still awaiting for moderation to view publicly

My Group is http://groups.drupal.org/ravindra-workshop created on Aug 2012 is still showing the warning message.

"moderation and won't be listed publicly until it has been approved. showing on my group dashboard page."

Please help me out of here. and or let know what is the wrong i am doing.

The Problem
We currently don't have any guidelines on when Groups should be set to "Moderated - membership requests must be approved." On our Guidelines for Forming New Drupal Groups page it just says "Almost all groups should be open. Use other choices only when there is a good reason for doing so."

Commons Architecture issues posted

I've posted several issues for discussing the Commons 3.x (Drupal 7) architecture.

If you have input to share about the way we build Activity streams, the choice of base theme, the WYSIWYG editor or wiki functionality in Commons, now is the time to share your thoughts!

Edit: I've added this post to the Groups.drupal.org and Maintenance groups, but it's certainly possible that GDO would implement a particular feature in a different way from Commons.

Could we please have the "Don't send notifications for this edit" functionality on g.d.o?

It will be merged into that group in one week unless there is a good reason for it

Change ownership of 'United Kingdom'

The United Kingdom group is effectively abandoned, I have followed steps 1 to 3:

And this is step 4, I now ask if you could transfer ownership of the group to me, and then I can add the other people that would like to be administrators.

Create a new "Jobs" group on g.d.o?

Currently groups.drupal.org has a "Job" content type available for content creators to use.

Due to the number of organizations looking to do hiring, the availability of this content type has resulted in an increasing number of Job content type nodes being posted into groups here where job postings reduce the effectiveness / usefulness of the group. Frequently (almost always?) the job postings are for positions that have very little to do with the subject matter of the group.

Template and sob story about denying vs. deleting vs. merging new groups

A group was in the moderation queue for a number of months and I just merged it with another group. Unfortunately, I did this before explaining in the moderation log what I was about to do. Deleting the group and merging it, of course, removed it from the moderation queue. Oops.

Here's the message I sent phunster, who proposed the group. It's here partly so that I have a template to reuse in the future.

Merge Silicon Valley User Group with South Bay California?

These two groups appear to overlap quite a bit and I propose that we merge them into one.

Here are the mission statements for each group:
