Add-on modules

tsvenson's picture

In June we have had the Media sprint at DevCon and a few more months to get 2.x in shape. Of course there will be plenty of things still needed to get to a full 2.0 release (both Media and File Entity).

Still, I think we have a great opportunity here to put a lot of focus on the needs for developers wanting to extend Media with add-on modules on this sprint.

Things we could work on at the sprint could then be:
- Identify and create action points for what's missing in 2.x
- Templates/example for various add-on modules such as providers, players, admin etc.
- Improve documentation about how to develop add-on modules
- Other things add-on module developer needs

June would be a great time to do this as we should have most of the important stuff in 2.x in place.

Liaison with other projects

Another opportunity this sprint will have is that there will be several other sprints, as well as maintainers of other projects, on site.

When I talked with slashrsm yesterday, we decided to divide the organization of the sprint so that he focus on the development and I on non-coding things. Part of what I want to achieve at the sprint is to liaison with other sprints and developers on site to find out overlapping interests/needs and how to coordinate those efforts better.
