Two problems I have noticed with the 5.0 upgrade of groups.drupal.org is that the href for the favicon is blank, and events don't seem to work. An example of one such event is at http://groups.drupal.org/node/2207

And it appears that email notifications are no longer working either. At least for me they aren't - I use the option to always send notifications.
vexing
that code has been problematic. it had a bug where the from email was not set properly so perhaps this was getting marked as spam. please see if you get this comment via email? also check your profile edit page and see if you are still set as you think. there was a bug which would actually set you to never when you saved this page. i can't really fix everyone's setting accurately. sigh.
I didn't get this comment
I didn't get this comment via email, and it is set correctly on the account page :(.
who knows
i ran the query which should have fired for that comment (and this one) and you are indeed on the recipient list. please check your spam filters. i made a small change that shouldn't have affected anything but i am grasping right now. let me know if you get this reply via email. thanks.

Here's another one: there is an RSS icon with a link to http://groups.drupal.org/og/my/feed at the bottom of every page - it this intentional?

by design
doesn't exist for 5.0. i would love to replace event and signup with cck solution
Event "Signup" gone from 5.0 by design? Yikes!
Hi Moshe,
Is it simply that the applicable module(s) hasn't(haven't) yet been ported from 4.7.x to 5.0? I took a look at Contrib modules version 5.x status and saw the following as of Jan 2, 2007:
- Event: Will be updated eventually but may be some time. Patches welcome.
- Signup: Patch needs review/testing: 102348 (discusses Signup port to 5.x). Will be important for groups.drupal.org upgrade.
Or when you mention "by design", is it that the "Signup" functionality is not being planned to be available at all at groups.drupal.org? I think it's a critical need because event planners need to know how many folks will be at an event and what their names are.
What should folks like me who have posted and advertised events do in the meantime, delete applicable "Signup" verbiage such as that for my Austin Meetup and simply include other pertinent info such as date, time, location, etc., without actually asking folks to sign up?
It's going to be difficult letting venues know anticipated attendee numbers without having to resort to time-consuming counting of groups.drupal.org forum posts in which group members are asked, "Add a forum reply and say "yes" if you plan on attending such and such event." I suppose that's an option...although it's a step backwards.
Perhaps I'm not understanding what's going on? As always, thanks in advance for a clearer explanation...I'm obviously confused.

you said 'event signup is gone' and i agreed. the signup module has no 5.0 branch. if folks want to help that allong, they can review the patch in that issue queue. even better, would be to figure out an equivalent to event and isgnup using cck and some other module. lullabot has used views_bookmark to tally signups. thats an ok solution.
i do want signup features here, but there currently is no 5.0 module or recipe which provides it.
yes, remove references to signup for your open events. if signup functionality is a current critical need, use upcoming.org or some other event system.
unless you are running meetups with hundreds of people, the "time consuming" exercise you describe takes about 1 minute.
Thanks Moshe!
I'm no longer confused...well, at least not on this issue. ;)
And you're right, the "time consuming" exercise I described will only take about 1 minute, but "Signup" is...so much more elegant. :)
I owe you a beer the next time you're in Austin!

the favicon issue is now fixed. hate this part of drupal (global theme settings versus theme specific). by "event broken", do you refer to signups missing. if so, thats known issue. does not exist for D5 (but is in issue queue).
