Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I was lucky enough to attend a new Florida Drupal Empire meetup in Coral Gables last week at the Planet Linux Cafe (full details - http://www.meetup.com/Drupal-Miami/events/57984462/). We had a nice turnout of 15 people, including Alfred Smith, the person who put it all together (thanks, Alfred!) A few other "regulars" from the Florida Drupal Empire were also in attendance, but I'll let them speak up in the comments below.

As part of the meetup, I suggested that Alfred and the other organizers post their meetups on this site, as well as on meetup.com, in an effort to attract more people to future meetups. They have a great location (it's called "Planet Linux Cafe" - that serves a sandwich named after our beloved CMS), and a really good group of people so far.

I went ahead and posted a "TDB" next to their meetup on the our home page (http://groups.drupal.org/florida), I look forward to filling it in with the monthly meeting times just as soon as they are set (and someone lets me know).

If you're in the Miami area, be sure to check it out!

Thanks,
-mike

Drupal Sandwich TNG

Planet Linux Cafe- That is a freaking awesome name! Their website needs a bit of work, though. So according to the menu, the Drupal sandwich has tuna, lettuce, sesame sticks, and seeds.

Here's what I think the Drupal sandwich should have (We'll call this the Drupal Sandwich TNG):

  • Meat (Core)
    • Roast Beef (Field API/UI)
    • Ham (Entity System)
  • Bacon (Views)
  • Tomatos (Rules)
  • Mayo (Context) or Mustard (Display Suite) or Secret Sauce (Panels)
  • Bread (all of the "required" contrib modules like ctools, token, etc)
  • A pickle on the side (Metatag module)
  • Served with your domestic beer (downloaded theme) or microbrew (custom theme)
