Cincinnati Drupal July Meetup - Zen theme
This month the main topic of conversation will be the Zen Theme, and how to use it to build your own custom themes for Drupal sites. From the project page:
Zen is the ultimate starting theme for Drupal. If you are building your own standards-compliant theme, you will find it much easier to start with Zen than to start with Garland or Bluemarine. This theme has fantastic online documentation and tons of code comments for both the PHP (template.php) and HTML (page.tpl.php, node.tpl.php).
I hope to have at least a couple of people get up and talk about Zen, and go through creating a simple custom theme. Any takers?
The meeting will be at our standard time and location:
Cincinnati Public Library - Main Branch
Meeting room 3A
800 Vine Street
Cincinnati, Ohio
45202-2009
ph: 513-369-6900
See you there!

I would be happy to kick off the presentation. I have created several sites using the Zen theme and would be happy to get the conversation started.
Topics I could cover.
Thanks!

Dang, too bad I'm in Columbus...

Feel free to ask after the presentation at the Columbus meeting, there are usually a couple peopl there who have worked with Zen.

Maybe - if not one has a problem with it - I can bring a camera and record what we go over? Puts a little more pressure on us to behave though :)

Glad they're being found!
There are at least two, and
There are at least two, and possibly four, guys from Bloomington, Indiana who are planning to attend this event. Two are developers (meaning that our css chops aren't so great) who would like to understand how theming with Zen works (and maybe do a little hacking ourselves - heh), and two of the guys are experienced site designers who are getting their feet wet with Drupal theming. I hope that's helpful to you - we're looking forward to the event!
That sounds great. I'm not a
That sounds great. I'm not a CSS master nor am I a developer, therefore this presentation will be great no matter what your level of theming is. I can cover the basics and hint at the more advanced ideas. I would like to mention that I will create a screencast of the topics covered in the presentation at http://brianvanaski.com/ if you can't make it out.

Is anyone else going to be
Is anyone else going to be presenting, or are you the whole show? (-:
I am kinda looking forward to a road trip - and to meeting other druplers - but it might also be nice to avoid 6 hours of driving on Wednesday...
Our presentations are pretty
Our presentations are pretty loose and run about an hour long. I plan on kicking things off but am also anticipating input from the other themers in attendance. As I said before, I will screencast my portion of the presentation later this week or early next week. If it were me I'd wait for the screencasts, along with doing my own research before driving six hours.

But of course we'd love to
But of course we'd love to have you either way!
Like Brian said - if it's just for the Zen presentation - it wouldn't be worth the drive...
But to network and meet other drupal folks - definitely worth it. Sounds like a master card commercial, right?
Alrighty - three of us will
Alrighty - three of us will be coming over from Bloomington. We'll see you folks at 18:30.

Hoping to make it tonight. Wife is just getting over mono, so not sure if I can make it...
Too bad I can't make it tonight!!!!!!!!!
I'm so pissed up that I can't make it to tonight meeting as a result of my class schedule which start at 6 PM. Is it possible to make notes available after the meeting so that those of us who will not make it tonight will not be left out completely :).
Thanks,
Julu
Looking forward to tonight's meeting
Looking forward to gettin' my Zen on! As you can clearly see (http://oink-pug.org/), the OINK-PUG site is in great need of it!
