Meetup July 2009 - At McDonalds in Apple Valley
The High Desert Drupal group meets the first Wednesday of every month. This local group is a nice place for people to learn and talk about Drupal, a world popular content management system (CMS). We also talk about web development in general, covering all aspects from planning, design, development, and maintaining a web site. RSVP is not required and attendance is free. Tell all your friends!
What are we going to talk about?
Apache Solr
Solr is an open source enterprise search server based on the Lucene Java search library, with XML/HTTP and JSON APIs, hit highlighting, faceted search, caching, replication, and a web administration interface. --Wikipedia
This month Helior Colorado will give a presentation on Apache Solr and how you can integrate it in your Drupal site. We will get a run down on what Apache Solr is, what is required to use Solr, and then finally how to integrate Apache Solr search into a Drupal web site.
Community Time / Lightning Talks
After Helior's presentation we'll open up the floor to the community where anyone can talk about anything technology related. Do you have anything cool you want to share with the community this month? Did you play with any new technologies this month, it doesn't have to be Drupal? Lets rally up the community this month and allow everyone to share what they've been working on.
Please spend some time over the next week to think about what you want to share at the group, and then post a comment to this thread to let us know what you're thinking about talking about.
Where are we meeting?
We are meeting in the McDonalds conference room at the Apple Valley McDonalds on the corner of Apple Valley Rd and Bear Valley Rd. The room seats up to 49 people and is free to use.

Zend Framework Lightning Talk
I spent some time getting familiar with the Zend Framework this month. I'm going to do a lightning talk about the Zend Framework and talk about what cases I would use it over Drupal, and then I'll do a short demo building a small application.
HD Signage
Any chance that our phyisical logo (banner, button, pin, etc) is ready? If so, can this be brought to our meeting?

Indeed I have. My performance in early June really ate my time.
I will be bringing my non-cellphone camera to the meeting so please bring the pins and banner to the meeting, if possible so I can photograph them in place. I will be taking these for both of us artists since it ended up being a nice collaboration effort. :)
