Best 5.0 Baseline theme?

As a newbish theme-monkey who's been tinkering with things for a while now, I've got a quick question for the ranks: Is Zen the best "baseline" theme to use when creating your own theme for 5.0? Is anyone working on a basic multi-column template bare-bones type theme? I thought I'd seen one crop up for 4.7 a while back... Just wondering...

Looking forward to the answer to this too.

I'm a newbie as well, and I learn the most about systems when I can take something I like apart. I totally get XHTML and CSS, still learning PHP at lynda.com....

Find the right curve, and stay ahead of it.

I'm finding zen is good

I'm finding zen is good because it has a lot of examples in template.php that allow me to learn by example. The body classes are really useful for example.

It's one of those where the layout css is separated nicely so I rarely destroy the page structure by accident.

I usually rip out the CSS from style.css and then incrementally add back the bits I want or need.
