Hi all,
This is not strictly a DrupalChix topic, sorry, but I couldn't see another place to post it and I thought one of the dchix might be able to help. I'd be happy to re-post it elsewhere if there's somewhere more appropriate for me to post!
Today I started a Drupal group to coordinate some work I've started with another Drupaler in the Netherlands who is working on the same thing I am, which is creating a LIMS (laboratory information management system) using Drupal and contrib modules.
The group has been approved, but when I go its g.d.o page:
http://groups.drupal.org/science-applications
... all I see (above the group description) is:
* The post has been submitted for moderation and won't be listed publicly until it has been approved.
* The post has been submitted for moderation and won't be listed publicly until it has been approved.
No posts in this group.
If I'm logged out and visit the page, I see:
* The post has been submitted for moderation and won't be listed publicly until it has been approved.
No public posts in this group. You must register or login and become a member in order to post messages, and view any private posts.
I haven't seen any emails saying there's a post I need to moderate, and I don't see any kind of Administer Content links for me to moderate posts, so I'm slightly stumped as to what to do to get rid of the odd messages.
I'm hoping someone with g.d.o group administration experience can help.
Thanks!
Jennifer

Cross-posted to the "Maintenance" group
They handle all of the content moderation and approval stuff on groups.drupal.org, so will hopefully be able to answer your question!
no moderation events
I don't think it had been approved. When I look in the moderation queue I don't see any messages saying that it was approved nor any other "moderation" on it. Did you get an e-mail?
I approved this group just now so that you can get on making Drupal a premier LIMS, but in general it is a good practice to be patient when waiting for processes like this (they can take days or weeks).
If you are interested in helping to moderate group submissions please let me know by joining the maintenance group and then using my contact tab. We can discuss the process, guidelines, and get you set up to help others in their quest to set up groups.
Thanks!

I got the email!
Hi greggles,
Still new to how all this works. I was prepared for it to take weeks, actually. :)
The next day after I posted the group, I received an email saying that "jrdixey has posted a Group at http://groups.drupal.org/science-applications" with the group description I had written. I went back to the group page and it no longer said the group had been submitted for moderation, so I blithely assumed it had been approved. (Since I was then able to invite Rudy to join the group, that seemed to confirm that it was "operational".) Lesson learned!
I got the real email today. Thanks for expediting this -- we are hoping to attract others to this group and thus our project.
And I appreciate the invitation to help moderate, I hope I can be of some help. I'll happily join the maintenance group and contact you.
Cheers
Jennifer
