Upcoming SugarCRM and Drupal integration module and installation profile

Hi there..

I'm currently working in the SugarCRM and Drupal integration framework, called once: Sugarondrupal (project page: http://drupal.org/project/sugarondrupal). After making a review of all the exiting threads about the integration of both platforms, and using most of the code and functionalities developed during two years of real customer integration I've started to select some parts and re-design of the plubic distribution package of sugarondrupal.

I've two main development goals according to functionality:
- Using Drupal as a standalone Self service portal
- Campaing tracking and lead grabbing using a Drupal setup.

I'll be on the edge of having webservice (soap and rest) link and specific SugarCRM connections working (users with contacts and leads, nodes and subscriptions with campaigns.. etc..), but I would appreciate any other hep regarding other Drupal issues, IE: having a nice Customer support theme for the self-service portal, a good self-service portal design (basic ideas include: knowledge base, cases and bugs, and so..), as well as some themeing help regarding views.

If anyone is interested please, reply here or contact me using the contact form, so we can finally get this working for all. Anybody interested could also provide ideas and their opinions using the issue queue as always.

Thanks in advance..

I'll help

Several years ago I played around with SugarCRM. Back then I think the release was 2.0 or under. It was also the time I started using drupal (CiviCRM, pre drupal v5). I always though the integration of the 2 would be a damn good combination.

Don't know what I can do but will work with you

will help on testing

We're observing SugarCRM gaining tractions.

Since we're newbie to Drupal but veteran on SugarCRM, would like to contribute as a tester.

Thanks to both..

I'm pretty sure there's work for everyone. Elmobile, you may help not only in testing, but also in 'use cases' design since the very begining. About ctmattice1, not sure what kind of help are you interested in give us, but any effort will be appreciated.

I'll update the thread once I setup a discussion place (irc, mini-forum, project issue queue or whatever), and ping you back to start sharing ideas and testing current implementation.

Thanks again!

Just as an update, I did

Just as an update, I did setup the site http://sugarondrupal.drtsg.net where I'll be heading a blog about current development and research status of SugarOnDrupal module, features, ideas and other important notes. I finally decided to do so because the issue queue (IMO) should be more focused on 'request issues' instead of "design issues".

Despite the current site status, I just installed and set the blog, there's nothing to see now, but would help to manage efforts for all the people interested. People interested "should" get the RSS feed to be updated with the development news.

Right now I'm redesigning the Connector module, to be able to manage SOAP and REST services (SugarCE and SugarCRM Pro and Enterprise versions). I will commit the current work once it's working, because right now it is a complete mess of unhandled errors module.

Remember that there are three main tasks for this project:

  • The connector itself and related modules (Leads, Contacts, Cases and so), that I'm working on..
  • A Self Service portal design: modules and features that this kind of install profile should include and how shoudl it be preconfigured
  • Other kind of integration: Prospects, Campaign tracking, Lead grabbing and so..

It's now, the time for you, people interested in contribute to decide the tasks you would like to be involved.
