Drupal meetups are officially back in the San Gabriel Valley and are now on the 4th Thursday of each month. This month we're meeting at Intelligentsia Pasadena on Thursday, October 25th, 2012 from 6-8pm. Join us!
This meetup will have more of a social atmosphere and we'll have a series of lightning talks on Drupal 7 Themes and Drupal Security. We'll also be discussing this month's Drupal Design Camp LA 2012, future venues for the SGV Drupal group, or anything else our attendees are interested in.
Thank You to Our Sponsors!
The raffle prizes for this event are being provided by Exaltation of Larks @LarksLA, a Drupal strategy, consulting, development and training company with a team of Drupal experts in Los Angeles.
This event is being organized with help from Droplabs (@Droplabs), a collaborative Drupal event and coworking space in Downtown Los Angeles.
We're quickly gaining a reputation for being the only free coworking space around with a freemium business model: come work here for free and only pay for the extras, such as 24/7 access, equipment rental and a locker for your belongings.
For any changes to our agenda for the evening, stay tuned to this meetup announcement or click the Sign up button below (or both!) and be notified when the agenda has been updated and to receive the organizers' phone number.
Presentations and Lightning Talks
Do you have a presentation or job announcement that you'd like to share with the group? Is there a topic you'd like to request a presentation on?
Leave a comment at http://groups.drupal.org/node/262983#comments to let the organizers and attendees know what you're interested in. Thanks!
Users Helping Users
The meetup begins at 6pm but you're welcome to come earlier at 5pm for Users Helping Users, which is a chance for members of the community to help and be helped by others with whatever questions and problems they're having with Drupal.
Please note that while Users Helping Users is not designed to be a replacement for bona fide consulting from a Drupal professional that there are plenty of Drupal experts and professionals who attend our meetups and sometimes they need help, too!
Agenda
Our meetups follow a basic format and start off with Drupal news and announcements, local job announcements, raffle prizes and full-length presentations. As always, we'll have community Q&A, during which time anyone in attendance can ask questions, divine answers from the crowd and give brief, 5-10 minute-long presentations known as lightning talks.
After the meetup, we'll finish off the night with more networking and a Drupal After Dark at 8pm. We may stay at Intelligentsia or over to Jake's or Lucky Baldwin's for something stronger. Even if you can't make it to the meetup, going to the Drupal After Dark is a great way to meet your fellow Drupal community friends and colleagues. Join us!

We've been having Drupal meetups in the San Gabriel Valley since June, 2010. In addition to scheduling monthly meetups, our organizers hold occasional trainings and workshops and get together for social gatherings.
Attending SGV Drupal events is one of the best ways to meet and talk with other Drupaleros and we encourage you to attend meetings and special events regularly. See our event schedule at http://groups.drupal.org/sgv for more.

The San Gabriel Valley Drupal group proudly participates in the California Drupal Travelers Program and can host businesses and community members who are visiting the area. Inquire within by contacting any of the SGV Drupal organizers.

That sounds great!
If you'd like, I can bring a Watchdog magazines that have articles about Drupal 7 themes. We have plenty of them left over from last weekend's design camp and I can bring one for each person who signs up at http://groups.drupal.org/node/262983#signup
Sounds like a good idea --
Sounds like a good idea -- even if everyone that signs up doesn't take one, they'd be well worth reading 'on the spot'...
That sounds great, Fejn!

I'm not used to giving
I'm not used to giving presentations, so I figure I'll aim for 15 minute lightning; if I can stir up enough questions/comments, it could probably go longer.

If anyone's interested, I'd
If anyone's interested, I'd like to try out a quick version of a longer presentation that I'm giving next month on Drupal security best practices. This would be a "look over my shoulder, I'd love your feedback" kind of rehearsal.
Topics I can cover include common attacks to protect against, an introduction to the Drupal security team, a security checklist anyone can follow, what to do if your site is hacked, and available tools and documentation.
Sounds like a good idea!
