What do you guys think about the idea of having a HKDUG Coworking day? The general idea of a HKDUG coworking session is to put HK Drupalers in the same room for a day regularly (a day or 2 days a month, or maybe more) to work and share ideas together. Benefits are in folds:
- There will be someone who is familiar of what you do to help you bounce ideas
- You can get some immediate response to practical problems or difficulties
- We all get to connect in a productive way :)
- We can even match freelancers to projects if anyone in need!

Folks, I have been talking to

I have been talking to my coworking space Cocoonhk.org if we could hold that coworking day using the common area for the event. After some discussion it seems that it is workable, however there is a catch - we need to offer something back to it's members during the event.
I have proposed to them that we could do a quick intro about the event (e.g. build a demo site in 20 mins) before or after the session, however they still wish to know if we could offer more during the session. If we could figure something out to contribute to the members DURING our coworking session, we can use their very nice common area for our event use.
Do you guys think it's worth taking up the challenge? And if so can everyone help to chip in some ideas how our event can help contribute to non-Drupal web developers?

Well their members have to be
Well their members have to be welcome in order to hold the event there, however I don't think that alone is enough. We have to figure something out that can raise the interest of their members.
One of our advantage though, is that over 50% of their members are web related workers, either web startups or web / mobile apps developers. It should be easier to raise their interest with some technical stuff.

There had been a code camp, a similar event, by Codeaholics on Oct 12 - 13 already. I think concentrating on Drupal may differentiate it from other events.
One suggestion is to have a session comparing Drupal with other CMS (e.g. WordPress, Joomla). It is one of the most asked questions. And showing the pros (and cons) of Drupal compared to them is very useful for other web developers.

@Dennis: I agree. Well, the talk isn't an issue (at least for the first one) as the Cocoon community doesn't know much about Drupal. The main concern however is to make it more meaningful to their community throughout the event.
Anyway, I have briefly discuss the idea with Cocoon and they think it's doable. I will officially submit it to the board for review shortly. I hope to make it a regular event (once a month) there if possible. Nonetheless, I think at least the first one should have been secured.
That's ashame not to have you next week :(
