Other Ideas & Comments

Got an idea for an event? Let's make it happen! Edit this area with your event idea or comment on how you'd like to improve one of the events listed.

  • We might want to consider pairing up with the BarCampAustin, which happens the same weekend as SXSW Interactive. In addition to teaming up re: venues, promotion, and other logistics, it would be a chance to promote Drupal to an additional audience.
  • UPDATE 2007-02-12: Todd spoke to William Hurley, the person in charge of BarCampAustin.
    • William is working on securing three-day (exclusive?) use of Bourbon Rocks, a bar one block away from the convention center, to hold BarCamp events.
    • Our Drupal group can section off a portion of Bourbon Rocks to meet, build community, and conduct lessons/crash courses.
    • I suggest we "merge" our Drupal group into BarCampAustin and schedule our meetings/lessons alongside BarCamp's. Overall, he is VERY excited about our involvement!
    • I will probably meet with him to discuss details within the next week. Anyone else interested?
      • Yes, Walt Esquivel can help with logistics if needed (finding a place, coordinating, etc.).
  • UPDATE 2007-03-08: Talked with Whurley at BarCampAustin. We're on for staking out a portion of BarCamp to discuss Drupal. I wrote a post about it and we need to vote on the best time to hold said Drupal-only discussion. --Todd

So it's official, then

  • Working for local govt, we have to document everything to do anything. If there is not a website in progress, we should have a website that makes this official. It should be chock full of printable "proof of training event" info:
    • url
    • schedule of events by date and time
    • are meals provided
    • some primary contact(s)
    • hosting personnel/organization
    • presenting personnel/organization
    • costs?..

Requesting an UPDATE 2007-03-05: Is this still on? I'd love to attend, but the details are still TBA!
