Our January meetup is this Wednesday, January 23rd from 7-9PM. For this first TC Drupal general meetup of the year, we're looking at a smorgasbord agenda. It is shaping up to be a busy Drupal year internationally and also here in the Twin Cities. We'll set the stage for that -- outline upcoming activities and initiatives -- and also leave room for people to share (formally or informally). Join us to learn and talk about some or all of the following:
- DrupalCamp Twin Cities -- July 18-21 in Minneapolis (now being organized!)
- Nerdery Overnight Website Challenge Twin Cities -- in Minneapolis in March
- NTEN conference (with Drupal Day?) -- in Minneapolis in April
- Drupalcon North America -- in Portland, OR in May
- Drupal 8 progress and timeline -- local core Drupal issue coding group opportunities
- You! Share a site (case study of something you've launched or are working on), a module or theme you've discovered, a nagging question…
- Ideas and commitments for upcoming monthly meetups -- let's get a schedule for at least the next few months
- Beverages and pizza (of course)
- ???
If you have something you are willing to share at the meeting, please step up and let us know in a comment. It would be great to hear what we're all working on these days. We'll be in the theater and have excellent projection and seating to accommodate any level of sharing. Otherwise, just be there. We look forward to seeing everyone.

Hey Barry
Looking forward to seeing everybody tonight. I wanted you to know that I've been talking with the folks that work on RedHen and I found out they will be in town presenting for NTEN. What do you think about getting in touch with them and finding a way for them to present to the group?
They seem to be open to the idea.

double post
sorry, looks like this double-posted.

Great idea
I think it makes sense to get together with the ThinkShout! folks when they're in town. Red Hen is an interesting entry into the native Drupal CRM space (if one could define one as such). Seeing Red Hen, getting their perspective on Drupal and CRM -- not to mention Entity Registration and working with nonprofits -- would open a valuable dialogue. Let's do it.
I'm still curious about the possibility of a Drupal Day as part of (probably preceding) NTEN's NTC here. Civic Actions and others helped organize one last year. I'm registered for NTC but have not seen anything about this happening. But I think I overheard someone (Drew?) mentioning this possibility at the Drupal Happy Hour earlier this month.
Anyone know what's up with a Drupal Day at NTC or would like to spearhead putting something (formal or semi-formal) together for when NTEN is in town? It would be great to leverage the energy and participation. It would also be the best way to frame a Red Hen / ThinkShout! presentation and dialogue.

Day before the NTC = MN NPtech conference
Just want to make sure this is on people's radar: http://www.minnesotanonprofits.org/events-training/technology-and-commun...
Holding an NTC Drupal Day as a precon event would directly compete with that. Although, at last year's NTC the Drupal Day event was held on the first day of the conference as a track of sessions that competed with other concurrent sessions.
Thanks for the heads-up and...
Good to know that the MCN tech conference is co-located at the Hilton the day prior to NTC. How did I not know that before? Gotta pay attention ;)
Well, I was thinking that any Drupal-related event would be better scheduled for that Thursday which is technically the first day of NTC. It seems a light day for sessions and has a block -- 3-8PM -- slotted for the vendor Science Fair. If our local Drupal folks are not too involved with the Science Fair, that block of time might be the best opportunity for us do something. I'm also holding out hope we could maybe get officially involved with NTC (too late?) to schedule something.
At the very least, we could pull off an evening get-together. As Chris pointed out, ThinkShout! will be in town and probably willing to participate.
Steve and Chris have passively agreed to help organize something, as have I. Shouting out to Drew Gorton -- do you have insider NTC organizer knowledge we should know about? Jason, are interested in helping in some way to pull something together? I'll put out other feelers including one to Holly (I'm way overdue for a catch-up with her).
Let me (us) know what y'all think and consider the efforts begun...

BTW, Drupal truncated your link to the MCN event, Jason, rendering it unusable (at least for me). Maybe this will work -- link to MCN event page? This also opens a can of worms related to participating in THAT worthy conference. What a week that will be!

For an evening event,
For an evening event, Thursday just might be your best bet. Wednesday evening will be the "unofficial" NTC Beer event (Brit's Pub just confirmed the space for that), and I believe the Progressive Party event will be happening on Friday evening.
They try to keep people at the Science Fair by serving food and holding a prize raffle, but folks will trickle out anyway. Last year a couple of vendors held events that evening as well.
If you want to try to schedule something official during the conference, their program director is Lindsay Martin-Bilbrey. She might be the one to reach out to. Holly's only got a week left before she leaves NTEN to take the reins at the Drupal Association.
