User group meeting

Join us on Tuesday February 12th, 2013 at Ryan's Village Pizza in Cocoa Village for our second meetup of the month.

I will outline using Features as a continuation of the workflow presentation that Mike and I did last night.

Features allow you to export your configuration to not-elusive-anymore-cielo code so that you don't trample on your other developers and avoid wiping out a production database.

If you'd like to follow along, bring your laptop with a local Drupal environment ready to go and download the Features module beforehand, since wifi is a little sketchy.

I'll also give a quick outline of what user stories are and how to translate them into content types and other functionality on your site.

If someone else would like to continue Cielo's excellent Back to Basics presentation on the block system and explain taxonomy to us, that would be great as well.

Volunteer in the comments section!

As always, there is room for any other topics too that you would like to present on.

Additional topics - this meetup, maybe next?

I spoke with Chris (from Sebastian) at last night's meetup, and he's interested in learning more about how to plan out a site's information architecture, especially the taxonomy aspects of it. I'm not sure if we'll have time during this meetup for it, but based on the comments from the previous meetup, it seems like there is definitely some interest.

Why doesn't this meetup show up under the group category "brevard"?
Usually I get an E-mail alerting me to a new comment or thread; this time nothing.
Since I did not see anything for the month of February, I went digging under "Florida" and found this. I am sure I am not the only one who has no idea there is a meetup tonight.

I got the email February 1st, when I created the event.

As for it not showing in Brevard, I forgot to tag it with Brevard. You might want to check your spam, and your notifications settings.

missed this one also

OK I totally missed this thread also. It didn't show up at all for me. so I'm copying forward my messages from the other thread. As I said, I can't attend this meeting due to a conflict. Hopefully everyone has agreed to postpone the IA and Taxonomy discussion until the next meetup.

I just found out the Space Coast BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN AND TRAILS MOBILITY PLAN
is also happening Tuesday night. I really need to attend this - is there any way we could reschedule the IA Panel discussion? Sorry about this...

OK so I think we are on the agenda for next Tuesday for a panel discussion about Information Architecture and Taxonomies. As I understand it, the participants are
Chris Patrick, Ben, Mike and me - anyone else want to volunteer?
So here's a suggested approach - we each take 5 minutes to present what IA and Taxonomy mean to us, why we think it's important, and to define our terms. Then if necessary we can spend a few minutes clarifying any terminology or perspectives. Then we can answer a pre-submitted set of questions (they can be from ourselves or anyone). And then if time permits open the floor to more questions? Does this sound OK? Also do we need a moderator? If so any volunteers?
If everyone agrees, and we can submit questions through this forum. I will collect and organize them ahead of Tuesday night. Sound OK?

I'm really really sorry to be missing Ben's Features presentation and I do hope you will make the information available.
