Resource List

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

During our PM Meetup this morning, it was suggested that we have a permanent list of resources we find helpful.

We can add pages to the PM Group to break out topics of discussion (a group organizer needs to add the pages). See http://groups.drupal.org/marketing-drupal for an example of pages. We can also create a Wiki we could all add resources to.

I think a combination of a Resources discussion page and a Wiki we could all edit would be good. A group organizer could edit the main group page and/or the Resources page to add a link to the Wiki.

I am not a group organizer, but am happy to help as i can if we want to establish a list of resources.

I like the way they have

I like the way they have their pages laid out.
Here is info on custom layouts http://drupal.org/node/1158230
I wonder if there is a way to make that home page section a wiki so we can all edit it.

Very good idea!

Hi guys,

I just posted a comment about that on Knowledge Assessment For Drupal and would surely be glad to see changes made to the Project Management group's homepage.

I would also agree on the fact that the The Marketing of Drupal group seems to be richer in terms of layout, configuration and organization of the resources of the group. So if the Project Management group could be re-organized in a similar way, it would surely be a great improvement.

I would completely agree with the Resource List, which could be some kind of simple Wiki Resources index page and if on top of that, organizers could rearrange group's layout, adding a few more blocks (Organizers Resources or Group Resources, etc...), it would certainly be highly appreciated.

I have seen there seems to be active organizers in the group and was wondering if we could perhaps draw their attention at this thread to try to get changes going.

Thanks very much DSquaredB for trying to get this to move forward, I will surely keep following this discussion with a lot of interest.

Thanks to all for your feedbacks, comments and replies.
Cheers!

Dup alert!

Hey guys, we already started one of these back in the day - check the threads from a couple of months ago and you'll find it :) That said, I dont mind changing up formats, and that source would give you some things to pull in.

It's here!

Looks like some good links.

Looks like some good links. Can we add that link to the group home page?
One issue with using diigo is anyone who want to add to the page has to create an account.
I think a great start might be to create a new wiki page that is liked to from the home page. That way any group members can add resources and create a wiki structure as it evolves.

Wiki index page and group's page rework

Thanks for posting this chrowe.
I would also be in favor of adding a Wiki index page that all group members could directly modify and that would group all these useful resources, with links, such as the one indicated above to diigo.

Additionally, it would be great if the Project Management group homepage could be reorganized, to display a link to this Wiki index page either in a content block, or in the group menu tab, a little bit like it's been done in the Melbourne group with the Resources page.

svettes, since you are group organizer, could you potentially make changes to the group's organization/structure?

Feel free to let us know if you would have any objections, comments, particular concerns or need any more information on that, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

svettes, if you need any help

svettes, if you need any help with making changes to the PM group page as suggested, I'm willing to help, but it needs to be done by a group organizer.

Hi DSquaredB,

Thanks a lot for following up with that.

Just wanted to quickly draw your attention on some of the work we recently got going in the Shanghai DUG:

  • Added a Wiki Resources page: 资源 Resources (which is only really supposed to be an index), to be entirely in Chinese.
See 中文文档站 / Centralized Documentation in Chinese, for more information about the idea behind this page, in particular:

for maximum simplicity, minimum changes/features, we suggested to create a freely editable index page from which we could simply link Documentation Wiki pages from pages to pages (does no harm, costs not much in terms of time to setup or solution and allows us to move on)

  • Currently working on the Group layout and Visuals and we should be integrating our changes to the Groups very soon (once the heat around DrupalCamp China 2013 cools off a bit). We've already got group menu links (at the top of the Group Home Page) translated and in place.
Changes to come include Group logo, events logos, Quicklinks (Subscribe to ical for events, IRC channel direct access through direct link webchat inspired from NYC Group, China community tools, etc...).

Overall, we're getting a very positive response on that and the community is also really willing to help improving their groups.

After a period of time/testing on the Shanghai DUG and if everything works well, we're hoping we could apply similar changes to the China DUG, which would also be linking to the same cross posted Index Wiki page to try centralizing as much as possible this information.

I thought you and @svettes might be interested in taking a closer look, since some of these ideas could also easily be re-used for the Project Management DUG.
The basic idea behind it being: small and quick changes in the Group's configuration with an important impact.
(For example, adding several sections or specific listing pages for discussions/posts, such as a Jobs/Events sections specifically suitable for Project Managers, as opposed to Designers)

Feel free to let us know if you would need any help or have questions, comments, suggestions, objections or issues on any suggested aspects for improvement, I would be glad to provide more information.

Any further feedback, comments, questions or ideas would be highly appreciated.
Thanks to all in advance!
