Just curious - from reading other discussion posts it seems like that Drupal used to have alot of people involved some big company folks used to be involved like from NASA and etc. And now as indicated in one post Schiupal no longer does Drupal but focuses on Python CMS, and others seems to have moved away from Drupal which brings me an interesting question - is Drupal losing companies for other alternatives or are they still going strong? I have read from some folks (not from Houston) who are not happy with the direction Drupal 8 is going - is this part of the reason of folks leaving Drupal? Just curious on people's thoughts?

I think Drupal is the right
I think Drupal is the right tool for the job when it comes to most websites requiring a robust CMS but most people are just looking to find what the new "hotness" is. I wouldn't be bothered by Schipul moving to Python. Think for yourself and figure out the tool that works with your workflow.
In our case it is definitely Drupal + Features + Aegir + Platforms and so many other things. When you start to pimp out your toolchain you are able to greatly multiply your efficiency. This kind of thing is rare or not even possibly with other frameworks we've used. If a client asks me for something I can always say "sure, we can do that" and I'm not even worried about how long it will take.
In the end Drupal has a unique community and I think they architected things in the right way. It will either win out in the end or be the best kept secret. I don't care either way. I like having it in my back pocket and watching other companies struggle over Wordpress and getting hacked, etc...

Billy, I don't think that is the problem(Drupal Dying). I think is easiness, More people know something different, and if you work with drupal in the area, chances are you are a one man shop!!! cause finding people interested in learning and actually prepared to learn it is kind of hard in the area.
So, if you have 10 projects, and you can attend to 3 with drupal by yourself or ten getting a couple of college students to do the dirty job in wordpress(just an example) well, you are set, aren't you?

Hi Billy! I don't think Drupal is dying in Houston. As long as there are people like you, me and the rest of the registered members of the HDUG out there who still maintain or build drupal sites - we are still alive! We might not meet often or only few attend the meetings - it only means that people are too busy doing Drupal in their own way.
