Central Florida October Meetup Wrapup

Thanks to everyone to coming out for the October, 2009 Central Florida Meetup at MindComet's offices in Altamonte Springs.

We started off with a demonstration/discussion/exploration of the latest Drupal 7 development version. We took about an hour to explore all the new features. We spent a significant amount of time with the Dashboard module, fields in core, taxonomy as fields (wow), and ImageAPI in core (sweet).

Andrew Riley then gave a quick presentation on a web site that MindComet just produced for a large client in just 2 days. The site was designed for a large theme park company as their new means of corporate communication during the sale of their parks. The site was built using the PressFlow distribution of Drupal and hosted entirely using amazon cloud services and was designed to serve over 1,000,000 page views per day.

Ryan Price then gave a quick demonstration on creating the FloridaCreatives.com "community" view using the "group by" functionality integrated with flagged content.

We then had a planning meeting about the upcoming DrupalCamp Florida (to be held February 20-21, 2010).
