User group meeting

The Twin Cities Drupal June meetup is scheduled for this Wednesday June 26th from 7-9PM. Power outage in the Lyn-Lake area threatened to make this a candlelit affair (anyone have a magic lantern for presentation slides?) but electricity has been restored!

Important location note

We'll be meeting in Intermedia Arts' adjoining back building to avoid a large event taking place at the same time in the main space. This building, called ArtsHub West, is directly behind the main building. The entrance is on Aldrich Ave. You are welcome to park in the main Intermedia lot or in the lot adjoining ArtsHub West on Aldrich.

Agenda/speaker opportunity

Unfortunately our featured speaker needed to step aside due to an unforeseen conflict. That means we have a wide open opportunity for … you! I invite anyone who has a ready-made presentation to offer to share with the group.

This would be a great opportunity for someone to test-drive their upcoming DrupalCamp Twin Cities presentation, for example. Leave a comment or contact Barry if you're interested.

Lightning talks

We'll also open the floor for lightning talks (5 mins. max). Bring a topic or question to address or have addressed by the group. No slides or formal presentation necessary.

DrupalCamp Twin Cities July 18-21

Lastly, members of the committee organizing the upcoming DrupalCamp Twin Cities will be present to answer questions and share info about all the exciting sessions, sprints, training opportunities and event celebrations that make up our annual affair in July.

As always, pizza will be provided. Bringing some beverages to share is encouraged.

I've put my drupalcamp presentation together and could quickly walk through it for class - for critiquing, etc.

Thanks, Maryann! I would also like to lead a short discussion around questions I have while preparing my session on content types.

Notes?

Did anyone happen to take notes from last night? When we do lightning talks it may be helpful to have someone write down the websites/modules mentioned so we can look back afterwards.

My brief talk was about explaining the purpose of .bash_profile files for increasing your efficiency in the command line. I referenced my personal .bash_profile at https://gist.github.com/davidneedham/4014378, which I can use to quickly create a Drupal sandbox with pre-set configuration.

For anyone trying this out on their own computer, copy the bits you want to use to your local ~/.bash_profile, close your terminal/command line and start it up again. If you wan to to generate a site, just run ndsb "My Awesome Site" (note that the quotes allow me to use multi-word names, unlike the typo I made during the presentation). Read through the comments for the newdrupal and sandbox functions to see what process it goes through.
