Hi all.

I've gone bossies: I'm relatively new to Linux - (K)ubuntu; almost new to XAMPP and all the PHP, MySQL etc. that goes with it; completely new to Drupal and brand-spanking new to this site. I've been having a blast :-)

So, of the 45 subscribers here, 80% are Gauteng - cool. But of the 45 subscribers, how many are "active" or "regulars" ???

I think theres a lot of active participants- most people just dont post to this group too often

Maybe YOU should call some meetings and generate a buzz - I will attend/participate

If you meet in Cape Town then include me in. I'm just not sure I have sunglasses ;-)

Anyway, do we need a physical meeting? We could also meet on Sunday evening at the Drupal Dojo
http://groups.drupal.org/drupal-dojo

I don't know if you guys know about it - basically a place to learn about developing in Drupal. On Sunday evenings they run a webinar on VNC, Skype and IRC where you can watch some guy develop something, and you can contribute, ask questions or just attend. Very useful. There are also downloads of the webcasts so you can catch up the ones you miss.

Anyway, I all for getting the SA practice going, because far too many moegoes are advocating Joomla to their clients. Yesterday I did some maintenance work on Joomla, and it was almost as bad as working in Windows after getting familiar with Linux ;-)

What time?

Hi Charles.

Thanks for that - I'll book my seat now.

I see Kevin Reynen was up this past Sunday the 18th, but I have not seen posted what/who will up this coming Sunday 25th, which also poses the question: what time? (considering time-zones etc.) Are these dojo-sessions usually held the same time or are the ppl in the teacher chair from different time-zones each week?

BTW, I also had a pink wig on that day too. (Too much alchohol in my mates makes me do crazy things on their dares :-)

8pm

The dojo meets every sunday at 8pm SA time (11am CST afaik) and runs for about 2 hours. Whoever gives the training records it and a video download is available. Sometimes the recording crashes so not all sessions are available.

HTH

Brilliant, I'm there!

It looks like I've got a date with my Bookmark this Sunday ;-)
