One thing that's coming up in the Drupal Dojo group, one of the most active groups here, is the need to start sharing administrative rights with more users. There are times when I'm offline for a few days, and the group could use a administrative assistance. For instance, we're trying to run a new "patch spotlight" feature which involves setting a sticky node for each new patch. It would be great to let add1sun do this herself.
I'm interested and willing to put some development cycles towards this if need be. However, I also have a sneaking suspicion that this might be already possible and I'm just missing it. Anyone know?

already possible, sort of
do you see the 'admin create' link beside each name at http://groups.drupal.org/og/users/2191? thats lets folks update/delete any post in the group. Senpal is already an admin, alog with Josh.
I don't think this feature will automatically give the right to make a post sticky. that currently requires 'administer nodes' perm. if you want this feature too, i'm happy to grant editor role to a few dojo people.
Aha!
I didn't think to click on the number of subscribers. Thanks for the tip!

Along these lines, what extra privileges do admins have?
I'd like to give a few more folks in the Austin group "admin" privileges. However, before I do that, is there a link somewhere here on g.d.o that lists and explains all the extra privileges admins have over non-admins? For example, my understanding is that all admins can send email.
Quite simply, I'd like to know (and I'm sure they would too) what privileges they'll be gaining in their new "admin" role.
Also, are there any extra privileges a group "manager" has over a group "admin"?
Much appreciated!

no docs
i'm not aware of such a doc ... the extra perm that a manager has is that they can create and demote group admins.
Sorry I wasn't specific enough
Hey Moshe!
On g.d.o, there are 3 levels of users for the Austin group, and it's probably this way for most groups on g.d.o:
1) Austin group's manager (currently me)
2) Austin group's admins (there are currently two admins)
3) Austin group's all other subscribers
I'd like to know what perms the manager has over admins and what perms an admin has over all other subscribers.
For example, as you pointed out, I know that I as the manager can create and demote group admins. Are there other perm differences between the manager and an admin, e.g. admins still not having "sticky" perm per your post?
And what can admins do that all other subscribers can't do, e.g. email all Austin group subscribers?
I'm just trying to figure out who on the Austin group is able to do what as I'm trying to decentralize things and give folks more power to do things themselves.
Thx!
