I"m really excited about the Drupal Camp coming up in February but unfortunately won't be able attend as some other events are already scheduled for that weekend. I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in a Drupal users meetup in Jacksonville at some point? I can take care of arranging but just want to gauge interest to see talk and meet the Drupal community in Jacksonville and the surrounding areas.

schedule it
Kevin,
You best bet would be to just schedule a location, date, and time for an initial meetup and see who shows up. Keep things simple for the first meetup and then when you get a good turnout, immediately post about it and schedule a 2nd meetup. Once people see even a little bit of momentum, you'll be on your way.
A few of us from Central Florida have made the trip down to south Florida for meetups - if we have enough notice, we can probably make the trip north as well.
Thanks,

Kevin, I know there are folks
Kevin,
I know there are folks up in that area, and I can think of one in particular called KOI. On top of that, Mike and I have taught some classes for the library association in that area, so at least they have heard of Drupal before.
You may want to eventually create a Jacksonville group or other sort of area for your members to see each other all in one place. It's great that we have 160 people in the Florida group, but sometimes geography is a nice way to tie everyone together.

Hello Kevin,
I just recently moved from Jacksonville and the city needs a Drupal meetup :) Try to post on the local PHP meetup forum and see who might be interested: http://www.meetup.com/JaxPHP-JaxWeb/

Sounds good
Thanks for the input guys. I'll definitely get some of the guys I work with on Drupal all the time together and look to do a meetup maybe the second or third weekend in January. I'll post an event here once we decide on it.
I'll also look at that PHP Meetup group you mentioned imehesz.
