Changing Group Managers

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

It's probably not a big deal, but the manager of the accessibility group at the moment has been completely absent from the discussions. I don't necessarily need or want to be the manager, but I'd love to have someone who is actively involved in the discussion be listed.

I'm not really sure what if any rights the manager has. I had tried to set up a group for Government that was denied last year. Fortunately, two groups for government have since been set up, so policies seemed to have shifted.

Might be useful to set up a FAQ or something though to help define some of how GDO manages things so that there is a bit more transparency and that people know what the process is (other than contacting Moshe or Robert in IRC or twitter).

It's a great service, good place to have these discussions. Just want to see it continuing to improve.

submission and takeover/delete policies

I just created policies for taking over groups or deleting them - http://groups.drupal.org/node/39596 - any ideas to make it better?

The group submission policy hasn't changed, but certain people ignore it or enforce it differently. It's hard, but it's the best system we've got. That policy has been at http://groups.drupal.org/node/20724 for a while now.

Both of those are now linked from the site's "about" page to improve their visibility.

Thanks for the ideas! Keep them coming!

Policy looks good.

Thanks for adding the policy on taking over groups. I'll give it a try and see how it goes.

I don't think I've seen it before in any I'm in, but then again I don't read all the posts or always remember everything I've read.

The group submission policy does need to be reviewed though. According to the policy, Groups should fall into one of four categories:

* a geographical user-group such as users in a specific state or region
* working group coordinating on a Drupal feature, module, theme, etc.
* a specific distribution (installation profile) of Drupal
* or a Drupal event organizing group such as a DrupalCON organizing group

Just going on a few of the groups I'm in that don't fit into those 4:
* Consulting and Business
* Drupal for Activists & Campaigns
* Drupal for Good
* Drupal for State and Federal Agencies/Government
* Drupal in Education
* Labour
* Local Government
* Mark Boulton Design Drupal 7 Project
* Newspapers on Drupal
* Security Scanner Component and Best Practices
* Testing and Quality Assurance

there were others that were iffy, but really. It's about communities of people who want to discuss items in Drupal that are of benefit to the larger community. Or in the case of Drupal for Evil & others like it, just to remind the community not to take everything so seriously.

Group Manager Change for Accessibility

Mike, I find it wonderful, that you will take over the management of the Accessibility Group. You are anyway the most active member and your submissions are very good.
