As far as the Bus Project's
As far as the Bus Project's concerned, this June meeting time is good to go. Looking forward to hosting.

Feel free to bring snacks / libations.
Our projector is currently AWOL, but hopefully will be back in action by that point. Someone may want to bring an extra just in case.
dang
Wednesdays are universially bad for me, but my schedule is pretty full anyway.
orange pekoe?
Can you guarantee that the building won't smell like orange pekoe tea? .... 'cause it would be amazing if the whole neighborhood didn't smell like Tazo for a day.
Yes.
You have my personal guarantee.
How 'bout Earl Grey?
Cheers,
Bill

You can usually smell the tea outside, but I've always been amazed that the smell doesn't seem to be present inside the office portion of the building.
I should note I've been in the building a good number of times for various Bus Project related meetings (I'm a Bus volunteer in addition to a Drupal developer).

Quick Re-cap
Great Meetup!!
I counted about 20-25 folks. It was a good mix of Programmers, Website builder/admins and designers.
Thanks again to "Bus Project", the space was ideal.
For the most part the meeting was an informal discussion of topics proposed by the attendees
1. Drupal Strenghts and Weaknesses
2. Best Practices
3. Views and CCK
4. Theming
After that we broke off into a hands on groups that looked into solving specific issues attendees brought to the table and a networking group.
General consensuses was members would like to see interaction with Drupal from the admin side of things, so it was thought that at least a portion of future meeting could be members demoing sites they've built (or are building) and show how they accomplish certain feats via the admin interface. Also Node access techniques was a common theme. Feel free to suggest topics and/or Offer up you site to demo to the group
It was also suggested that we might want a full fledged user group site to organize things. We could go as easy as a google group (very easy to maintain) or if someone knows of a decent CMS framework (and is willing to help maintain sed site) we can go that route also. Let me know what you think.
Overall I think it was a great meeting ......Pizza.....Beer.....Drupal.....

Glad to hear it was a pretty good meeting. I really wanted to be there, but my wisdom teeth have flared up again and talking is no fun.
I really hope to be there at the next meeting.
If we want to do a user group site, I have server space where we can host it. Just let me know.

Raffling off a copy of Pro Drupal Development
I wanted to let everyone know that I got an extra copy of the excellent Drupal programming reference Pro Drupal Development that I'll be raffling off at the meeting.
Did you get it from around Portland?
I haven't had much luck finding that around Portland here. Powells doesn't have it yet. Neither did BN. I wouldn't ming flipping through it before buying it.
Has anyone found a copy locally? Otherwise it'd be cool to glance through a copy at the meeting then I'll order it online.
Jason
I got them from the publisher
The first copy I got as a review copy from the publisher and the second came as a promotion they did donating a copy to each of the Drupal SoC students. I'll bring them both down so people can have a read.
I've been really impressed with it so far. Even been a pretty experienced Drupal developer I've learned some cool tricks. There's also a ton of code in the samples to copy and paste in when building a module that'll save you a bunch of time.
Thanks!
Wow! Great meetup. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in making it all happen.
Can anyone tell me who offered up the other books for the raffle? I'd like to give credit where it's due, :-)
-Greg
Books
The books were gifts from the publishers. I believe O'reilly and Apress in this case.
Their hope is that you will read the book and post a review to a high traffic site (i.e. slash, amazon, bn, ...). If you do this send me the link and I will forward it on to them.
ciao,
Sam

Pizza
The fine folks at Centerstance will be buying us pizza for dinner. So don't worry about grabbing something on the way over ;)
(I updated the event description but I wanted to post a comment so anyone subscribed would hear about it)
I am a PHP developer
I am a PHP developer responsible for a website for a non-profit, and we're looking at using Drupal to rebuild the site. I live in PDX and would like to know if this meeting is open to the public.
Open to the public
This meeting (and all drupal meetups) are most certainly open to the public. All are welcome.
Come check out Drupal & "The Bus Project"

More Books
In addition to "Pro Drupal Development", I'll have a couple other PHP/Web books to raffle

Hope the turnout is good
Alas, I won't be able to make the meeting. I'm wondering if anyone is planning on posting any key points of discussion or other "news" related to tonight's meeting. It would be interesting to read what I've missed this month. It may also help the group build out a better format for monthly meet-ups... 'course, this is coming from a no-show.
I blame it on TAZO.
