I just wanted to make sure that everyone Portland is aware of OSCamp. It's a free un-conference that'll be held as part of O'Reilly's OSCON 2007. The basic idea is you just show up and show other people what you're working on and see what they're up to. If you can make some time during the day you'll have a blast.

So do we want to plan some stuff? I know in the past there have been get togethers and such.

Exhibit space...

I was also wondering if Drupal was getting exhibit space at the event. I saw that Joomla will be there.

■ Access to pre-event press and analyst list

OSCAMP is free!

OSCON is the big commercialized conference organized by O'Reilly; OSCAMP is a community-driven un-conference (like BarCamp) open to anyone who wants to come.

As far as "Drupal" having an exhibit space, I can't say that I've heard anything about it. I do know that Greg had mentioned the OSU Open Source Lab having a fairly large booth (donated by IBM, IIRC).

A BoF (Birds of a Feather) event wouldn't be out of place, but it might be a bit late to get started. Personally, I'm hoping to get some folks together at OSCAMP to talk about technology infrastructure for non-profits (i.e., tech on no money), which will hopefully include discussion of ways to use Drupal and other user-friendly CMS tools to "get the message out."

Lennon is correct. We (the OSU OSL) will be present in force in the OSCON exhibit hall at IBM's booth - #403, one of the big open 20'x20' booths right by the entrance. Please stop by and visit us ... it's always fun to meet folks we usually only "see" online. We'll have several staff present who are working with the hosting of the main drupal.org sites and nearly all of us can (and probably will) help represent the Drupal community to non-believers. :-)

I'll certainly be around OSCAMP too, as will quite a few of the OSL staff. Wouldn't miss it!

A few OSCAMP details

I'm the 'un-official, official' organizer for OSCamp. That venue should work well for Drupal (and any other group). It is Barcamp format so just show up at 9am'ish on wed and block out a session (or 2) for drupal.

There will be light snacks and coffee in that room (also wifi and a projector available to whom ever has that hour's session slot)

register at oscamp.org

pdxphp has a (little) booth in the expo hall and we welcome all drupal'rs to come by and 'hang out'. Also our booth is right in front of the restrooms so we are bound to see you 'eventually' :)

I was just thinking of something along the lines of getting together for dinner in the evening. I know they'd done that in the past. It might be fun to get together for something social.
