We will be holding a Connecticut Drupal Group Meeting on Tuesday, March 16th from 7pm to 9pm in Hartford at the University of Connecticut Law School, Library 202 (map/directions).
Thanks go to Michael Hurley for arranging the room which is now confirmed.
Anne Murray-Randolph had offered to give a presentation on the SimpleSite service developed at Yale to ease Drupal administration. We spoke today and I have confirmed she will give a brief (20 minute) presentation on the topic.
Would one or two others like to step forward and volunteer to give brief presentations (20 minutes each) on some experience with Drupal? Contact me directly or leave a comment below.
I propose our agenda for the March 16 meeting include:
- Introductions by Attendees (Who I am, What I do with Drupal - 10 minutes)
- Needs and Offers Discussion (What do I need? What can I offer? - 30 minutes)
- Drupal Experience Presentations (2-3 brief presentations - 60 minutes total)
- Discussion on Organization and Logistics to Move the CT Drupal Group Forward (10-15 minutes)
Any suggestions or ideas?

I am still looking for one or two folk to step forward to give a short presentation on their experiences with Drupal. You not need to present as a Drupal expert. Just present on your experiences to get a conversation rolling.

Meeting
Thank you for organizing this. This is great. I hope to attend.
I'm on Jury duty that week but will come if I'm not held up or get out early enough.
Sandra
Great Meeting!
Thanks Mark and Michael for setting it up. Thank you Anne and Aldon for presenting. I'm looking forward to the next meeting.
Second this!
It was great to meet some "local" drupal folks, and the presentations were very interesting. Thanks!
Great Meeting - Informative Sessions
I agree that it was a great meeting last night - I counted roughly 20 folks. I'm new to this type of group, so was very excited to see so much participation. It seems we have a great bunch of people involved and I think that we should continue to spread the word to others. Also as a newbie, I felt very comfortable talking about my (lack of) experiences freely. Meaning the more experienced folks were very encouraging and supportive. We had some really technical people, some new-to-Drupal technical people, some designers/themers, some business people, some who are just curious about Drupal and checkin' things out, and even one guy who said he was there to just "gawk" ;-) All in all, a very valuable experience for me and I hope for others. I heartily agree that we should continue to build the momentum and energy moving forward to the next meeting. Do we have a date yet for April?
I can give some brief comments
I intend to attend and can talk a little bit about my experience of Drupal, dating back to Ecademy which was running Drupal in 2002, DeanSpace which was based on Drupal starting in 2003, and which I've written chapters for a few books on, and my continuing use of Drupal today.
Aldon, I think it would be
Aldon,
I think it would be great to hear some Drupal experience dating back to DeanSpace. I'll add you to our agenda as a second presenter.

Central Connecticut Drupal Meetup
The Central Connecticut Drupal Meetup Group will be meeting to create a resource to help grow Connecticut's Drupal community. Come meet fellow Drupalists, come learn what Drupal can do for you and the best practices to apply when using Drupal, and come help steer our group to become an invaluable source of information and networking opportunities.
Agenda: Introductions, User Presentations, Sharing of Needs and Resources, and Organization of the Group
When: Tuesday, March 16th, 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Where: University of Connecticut Law School, Library 202 *, Hartford, CT
User Presentations:
Anne Murray-Randolph is the Assistant Vice President of Communication and Strategic Projects at Yale University. She will talk about SimpleSite, a front-end Drupal application developed at Yale, that makes Drupal so easy to set up and use that an administrative assistant can do so – through the selection of established feature sets (versus modules), themes, etc.
Aldon Hynes is an independent consultant who has helped various organizations use Drupal as part of their online social media outreach. Starting with his work on DeanSpace in 2003 and leading up to the current day, he will explore how individuals and organizations can use Drupal in conjunction with other social media tools to get their message out.
About Drupal:
Drupal (drupal.org) is a powerful, free and open source content management system (CMS) that allows an individual or a community of users to easily publish, manage and organize a wide variety of content on a website. Tens of thousands of people and organizations are using Drupal to power scores of different websites, ranging from small personal blogs to large corporate and political sites, including whitehouse.gov and data.gov.uk. Drupal is used for ecommerce, podcasting and photo galleries, social networking sites, knowledge management, business collaboration and much more.

Room setup?
Do we need a projector? Is there wireless connectivity?
I spoke to Michael Hurley
I spoke to Michael Hurley about the room. Library 202 is a classroom and we should be able to hook into their projection system.

Thanks for Attending...
Tonight's meeting provided two informative presentations and an excellent opportunity for networking and information sharing among twenty engaged beginning and experienced Drupal developers. Lively discussions continued thirty or so minutes after the meeting concluded and were still on-going outside the library as I headed to my car. We began and will continue online a discussion on activities we want to be included in future meetups.
Our next meeting will be held on the third Tuesday of next month: Tuesday, April 20th, from 7pm to 9pm in the Greater Hartford area.
